What's the take on these?

Do they work well?

A friend of mine got one installed and was not impressed with the results.

Another rec for Scott McGrath. Costs will vary based on coverage and needs, but I would expect to drop between $2300-$2800.

I bought a house that already had a system installed and I was not impressed. It sort of worked for a few minutes, but I would not spend thousands of dollars on a system based on my experience.

I've known people who have used the handheld foggers in their yards that you can buy at the hardware store and I thought that they worked just as well - if not better.

Mosquito Nix did ours. About $4000 and worth every cent. Annual maintenance with pest control is about $2500.

That's ridiculous.

We just had Chemtech install a system for our house about a month ago. The system covers our front patio, back patio, entire backyard (along the fence), and the gated portion of our driveway. Total cost was $2600. We love it and can actually go outside now without being swarmed.

It would be nice to get something close to consistent reviews for ~$3k ask.

If you don't get "swarmed", you'll still get bit enough to move back inside....even a couple is enough....and then, you've wasted your $$$.

I can't speak for those whose yards were part of a rice field 10-15 years ago...after all, you don't want your kids hauled right out of your yard!

3 of 10....don't make the mistake I did.
Deet sprays are *yuck*, but more effective and by comparison, damn near free.

We used Mosquito Nix and it was $2300 for our entire backyard and around the garage. This included not only the fence line but in all the trees and landscape. The reason I went with them is because they have a lifetime warranty if you use them for refills. They come out and check the system once a month and only charge you for the refill. They will test your system and replace anything that isn't working correctly for free. I had to do something because my daughter is highly allergic and this not only works but makes life simpler while enjoying our backyard.

Sorry for bumping this old thread as I was searching for pest control recommendations on Texags and found this one.

Anyone have opinions on Scott McGrath Pest Control for regular pest control (not mosquitos)? I went to Cy-Creek with him and would love to throw work his way.

Thanks,

We installed our own system with mosquitomax kit last september (shortly after moving in). Our house backs up to forest.

Based on our experiences so far, I would do it again. Cost was around $2000 for all parts to go around our backyard. Installed over a weekend with a buddy helping out.

I saw one mosquito in our backyard last fall. We would go to the front yard and get attacked.

The biggest issue I have had is system leaks there is supposedly leak prevention on the kit but it hasnt worked a few times. One time was a squirrel or something had chewed/ scratched a line and the other time one of the connections went loose. Sucks since you lose your concentrate real fast.

I expect to spend $100 every two to three months on insecticide. Plus a monthly visual check to make sure connections are all good.

We use Scott McGrath for both our home and our retail business. Scott's a good guy and he and his team do a great job.

You're getting robbed (unless it's a HUGE system) - we pay them $800/yr to maintain/fill the system and use Lone Star Pest for everything else. Slightly less than half of what you're paying.

Lone Star Pest Control chiming in.....we can easily fill and fix most general issues with the systems (nozzles/lines). Also, starting this year, we are going to offer "manually" applied misting, preventing you from having to install an entire system, we would instead come out several times a year to treat your yard, using a backpack style leaf blower.

McGrath Pest Control handles our general pest control as well. They do a great job.
