I am just west of the Heights in Lazybrook and need to get my sewer lines replaced, any recommendations on companies that can perform this work? First quote came in at $87 per foot and I need some other companies to compare with.

Church Services is good but $. Lots to choose my only recommendation would be to get at least 4 quotes. See other current Houston thread too on same subject. Oh, and $87 per foot seems WAY HIGH.

Definitely get multiple quotes. $87 is way high.

$87 per foot was Nicks Plumbing, they have treated me right in the past and unclogged the line today and a few times in the past...I figured they would be on the high side.

Is this just the sewer line (prob concrete pipe) from the side of the house to the city connection, or are they tunneling?

You are getting hosed if its through the yard.... and no, it is not concrete. They only use concrete for storm.

Yes, nowadays, but there is a lot of concrete poo pipe in Houston residential yards.

I bet its clay pipe and not concrete.

Either way, they are placing plastic and can reroute it slightly.

I used to think that plumbers charged exorbitantly high prices until I tried doing some if that sh** myself. They earn their money.

You can save yourself $$$ by going to Home Depot and buying 4-5 shovels and swinging down Westpark on your way home.

Granted it was 5-6 years ago, but I paid $400 for 40 feet of trenching to a crew that my neighbor put me onto.

You're either going to pay the plumber his normal hourly rate to dig, or he's going to bring in his own crew of "skilled diggers".

You may still have to pay the plumber a bit to re-grade for the correct pitch, but you'll save a heck of a lot.

Larry French Plumbing out of Oak Forest. They replaced my clay sanitary sewer pipe 2 years ago, added a clean out, etc. They aren't the cheapest on the planet but they do good work. Also, they will bring day laborers to do the digging that you pay separately around $10/hour. Or at least they did for me.
