TIA.

Its a 3/2 built in the 50's with caste iron. Will probably do PEX for water and PVC / galvanized for sewer.

I used Church Services for my re-pipe. Overall no complaints. Except cost, but it is going to be $$$$ no matter who does it.

Yeah i think im looking at $5-7K all in. All of the attic pipe was already re done with PEX recently by the previous owner. Hoping they did a good job and it'll save me that portion of the cost. Of course, thats the cheapest part to take care of.

We have a 50s house and other than the eventual corrosion of the cast iron sewer pipe, why would you want it replumbed?

We used SandTech for the sewer repipe a few years back -- can't say enough good things about them.

To avoid the eventual corrosion, and mess that goes with it?

Drumboy, if the underground lines haven't collapsed, they will. It's a question of when, not if. Same with galvanized supply lines in the attic. We did the sewers when we bought but the supply lines gave up 4 years later -- spent about $7k on sewer and about the same on PEX.

I was aware or the eventual collapse of the sewer lines but not about the attic lines. Hopefully we'll demo ours before either of those are needed....

Anyone have a recommendation for tearing out a closet next to a half bath, moving the toilet and sink and adding a shower to where the closet was?

And how poor am I going to be afterwards?

Installing new sewer lines in the foundation isn't gonna be cheap.

I have heard from $2500 to $5000, just for the plumbing, I am going to actually start calling plumbers next week.

Anyone on here actually done this before?

It can vary widely from what Ive seen and heard. depends on the location of your bathrooms to the outside of the house, where those pipes run, how difficult to access them.

Also, can they do it by tunneling, or do they have to cut the slab all the way through the house (I saw a video of this that someone had to do up in Oklahoma, and it made me ill. his house looked like the barbarians had sacked rome.

Yeah, idk what all this is going to entail, I want to spend about $5k total on the bathroom so I will probably be doing everything non moving pipe related myself.

I think one of the house repair talk shows were talking about a company that installs a liner in your current existing lines. Flushes out your lines drains them and then runs some liner through it.

If you are just doing this to avoid any future issue, i would look at this first based on cost.

Kitchen, laundry room and bathrooms are all on outside walls in our house, so SandTech was able to lay a new sewer line around the perimeter of the house and tie everything in with pretty minimal tunneling -- just abandoned the galvanized system in place.

Did they lay new galvanized or pvc? I didnt think pvc would hold up quite as long in houston soil movement.

I had repiping done by Nettle's plumbing (713-463-6015). They did a good job and were the most competitively priced.

The resulting sheetrock work was done by Gerald Conner (713-201-1013). His crew did an excellent job and went above and beyond what I asked - for no additional charge.

We laid PVC. Since the reroute is on the perimeter it would be a simple job to reset any segment that moves, but everything is rock solid after 6 years. Haven't even had a yard guy knock the center off of a clean out cap, let alone a clog. We just have to make sure that if we sell (to anybody who wants the house rather than the lot) understands the layout and doesn't try to pressure test the parts of the abandoned system that are visible.

I replaced all my galvanized (1960s house) with Pex in December.

S&B (Sugarland Plumbing).

Did a really good job and were actually the cheapest out of John Moore and Abacus.

Its a 4 BR, 2,000 square feet with two baths and total was just under $8,000.

(We did the drain lines in 2011)
