I was thining Fry's, since I've been there and they seemed to have a good selection at reasonable prices, and they price match. But I've never been to Microcenter, or any other place, and there's always places like Best Buy. Anyone have any suggestions?

I actually was just in TigerDirect the other day. They were in the process of packing up the store. They close their doors on 7/22, they're trying to sell off all the display computers, TVs, etc.

Damn that was quick. They just opened up a couple months ago.

Buy online and pick up at their store near harwin @ BW8. I have been buying from them for 10 years.

They have good deals on Acer and Asus laptops and I have been impressed with both brands that I have picked out for family members recently.

If anyone ever buys from directron, make sure you select to pick up in store on the check out page. When you go to the store you go to the computer on the right hand side of the counter and enter your order number and they will bring out your order. This place is like nerd central and makes for some pretty good people watching. I usually just get my stuff shipped UPS because I get it next day when shipping ground and don't have time or want to go over there and pick it up. They also have computers in the store where you can order from their website and pick it up while you are there. Another thing to watch out for is if you see ds-dh at the end of an item # it is not in their wharehouse in Houston and will be shipped from somewhere else, so you can't pick it up. Not a lot of their items have ds-dh at the end but it happened to me once where I tried to go pick something up that I needed that day and it was ds-dh. They just found me a similar item that they actually had in stock and swapped it out.

microcenter can be good but you have to look close at the specs. I'd search Newegg for exactly what I want and if you don't want to buy online just search for the same model at the box stores.
