I read the thread about the route from CS. Somebody mentioned that 59 *looks* like the best route but there's a lot of small towns to go through. What do Houston folks think? North on 45 to 21?

I've always gone down 59. Made that drive almost a dozen times including just this weekend. There's a few small towns but most of them are very small, just slow down and speed right back up again. The bigger ones like Lufkin and Nacogdoches have loops around them and you hardly have to slow down. Just don't speed through Diboll.

When you go in October, tell us what you think of the giant video scoreboard in Carthage. It's new this fall.

Unless you have Sheriff Buford T. Justice riding shotgun, I wouldn't count on it. I have burned up that highway enough times to know it sucks major weiner. Just about the time you get up to speed, you have to slow down for some bullcrap town of 75 people. And, there is no Bucees out 59 N.

Not sure if it's still the case, but the cops in Diboll used to be HORRIBLE. Major h8ers.

Now, they just have cameras at every light and cops at the places in between.

Diboll is the worst town in Texas. Their 4 stoplights have stoplight cameras only on the north/southbound lanes.
