My first anniversary is on Sunday and the restaurant we wanted to go to is having a restricted menu then, so it's a no go. I'm looking for suggestions on places that would be a good place for dinner. I would like to keep it in the $35-45/entree range. We've been to all of the steak houses in Houston and want to try something different. We're in the NE side of town, but open to suggestions in downtown, the Galleria, the Heights and The Woodlands. TIA

If you're into sushi, I'd go for Uchi. It will be expensive though, but very unique dining experience and flavors.

The Capitol at St. Germain was really great. The food was excellent and the entertainment was good, too. Might want to check to see if there is a cover for the band, but it is one of Houston's most romantic restaurants (according to the Houston Press).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll talk with her about them tonight. I'm trying to keep it kind of cheap because we booked an Alaska trip this summer as a late anniversary trip/present.

brasserie 19 - mos'def on a sunday - the cassoulet's the sunday special, and it is undoubtedly THE BEST MEAL in town.

My husband took me to Maggiano's for our 1 year...If you get the pasta you get to pick one to take home and it is affordable. They gave us complimentary champagne since we were celebrating. Highly recommend.

Nothing says true love like Italian food brought to you by Chili's. Especially when it is served in a bowl large enough to bathe a child. Additionally sexy time is always better when you are loaded up with several pounds of pasta.

Hugo's it's a Montrose area restaurant that serves upscale traditional Mexican style cuisine. I'd recommend the churros w/hot chocolate for dessert.

A friend mentioned The Raven today and I realized I haven't been there in ages. I love the atmosphere and the menu. Mockingbird Bistro is another great recommendation. I like them both because they're in neighborhoods and have quiet natures about them.

DryFly, any particular bad experience there? Been several times and have always left there with great service an food experiences. They also have a great wine list IMO, though admittedly pricey.
