You can pay with a card, but there's a $3 fee. They also take checks.

Question concerning vehicle registration and a red light camera ticket. I have a redlight camera ticket that I haven't paid and when I went online to register it wouldn't let me. Can I go in person and get the registration or do I have to pay that damn ticket? I am in Fort Bend County.

I have gotten it done at Kroger the last two years using a credit card. Also, my registration was expired both times I went there. Shouldn't matter.

Mine's expired too and I'm looking for the easiest way to renew it... how do you do this Kroger thing? I've never heard of this.

if it's expired you can't do it at krogers. If it's not just bring the paperwork the state emails you to renew.

They would have taken my check had my license not also been expired. They had an ATM on site.

ALSO - you can renew for more than 1 year (up to 3) if you want to reduce the times you have to deal with the hassle.

How did you end up renewing yours since it's expired. Is the only way now to go over to the county tax office or whatever? If so, how was it and is there anything obscure that I need to make sure that I have?

If its expired you can only do it at a grocery store if it is within 7 days or so passed the expiration date.

For the red light camera ticket, it is my understanding that the county doesn't see much of that money if at all. I have an unpaid one also, and tried to renew online and was told I couldn't, went in person and they didn't even mention it. I think they just want their money.

Walked into the tax office at 1721 Pech in Spring Branch yesterday around noon and turned around and headed back to work. It was a long winding line of pissed off looking undocumented people...looked like a 2+ hr nightmare, so I am going to try going back around 10:30 this morning to try to beat some of the lunch crowd. Cash or check only. If you dont have a renewal notice on you, you will need to know your License Plate # and show proof of insurance.

Gross... that's what I was afraid of.

Mine's like 6 months expired. Can you check back and let me know how it was this second go around?

I went to the courthouse on Monday. You have to pay with cash or check. No debit or credit cards. BUT, you can buy 2-3 years of registration at a time now which I took advantage of.

The courthouse!? That sounds even worse than the Tax Assessor's office... 2-3 years of reg is appealing though.

tax office downtown is always money when i have to do crap like this. never a wait over 10 minutes when i have been.

note: there is also an atm right out front if you forgot cash.

Showed up at 10:40 and was out by 12:15. Pretty brutal but the line was out the door by noon and im sure those people were waiting nearly 3 hrs. Updated my address on file so i will recieve a notice going fwd and i vow to never let my registration expire again. I am sure the places are worse towards the end of the month.

That really does literally make me want to barf.

I have been there two other times in previous years around 10-11am and never waited more than 20-30 minutes. I really think it may have had to do with being the end of the month.

I'm here right now and it couldn't be more miserable. So many poors everywhere. Someone please come and help me. I need a beer.
