How long do you want to ignore this user?
Need a little help... I have heard the radio programs and also a lot of testimonials about how great Hotze is... what I fail to find is how much it costs.

Both my wife and I could use the treatment. my wife is diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism and takes drugs to counter it. She also has problems with fertility due to endometriosis.

I have significant allergy problems and probably also have thyroid issues, but have never been checked out.

How much is the consultation, the treatment, and is it really worth it?

Thanks.

Steve Hotze is a great guy who has a very unique approach to medicine. He is very much into lifestyle and diet changes along with minimal use of drugs. He ain't cheap and doesn't take insurance. The $ 4-5k figure is about right.

Steve Hotze's quackery approach to medicine does not work. For the people it does "work" for, the effect is a placebo effect.

But that doesn't keep him from making millions of dollars a year bilking suckers. The reason why he is cash only is because insurance companies won't reimburse for his quackery.

Save your money and go doctors whose techniques are supported by research in peer-reviewed journals.

Ah gunan just doesn't like Hotze because Hotze is conservative and gunan is not.

look into anti-inflamatory diets. we've got a good friend that's an ob/gyn - she had a patient that had endometriosis and crazy PCOS to the point she hadnt ovulated in years. she went to a gluten-free/AI diet and w/in a few months was ovulating and w/in a few months of that conceived.

also check out Dr. Thomas Hilgers: www.popepaulvi.com

I feel dirty just seeing his name on here. I think Hotze posts as Picadillo on the Politics board.

I am not a fan of this publication but felt this was worth sharing:

I personally dont care what a doctor's personal beliefs are, but I do care about their knowledge, honesty, and ability. You can draw your own judgements, but my family has had personal experience with him, and I would not recommend him.

oh, and dont be surpised if you get the automatic thyroid script right off the bat, which may or may not be needed.

I go to the Hotze Wellness Center. He no longer sees patients, but he has others in his practice (Sheridan is who I see). I decided to go this route as a last resort. Without going into much detail, my hormones and thyroid were out of whack and my OB/GYN and regular family practice doctor don't seem to treat the cause, only the symptoms. I can't say how it's working as I've only followed the regimen for a few weeks...but I am optimistic. Depending on which route you will follow, it is close to $2.5k and you can always use your own pharmacy. I also use Sam's Club for my supplements. Some of his fellow doctors have gone out to do the same wellness techniques as well at much lower costs. Kimberly Schroder in Tomball is one of 'em.

I have no idea if Hotze is conservative or not, and has not bearing on my feeling that he is a quack.

Mailinator, you're in the insurance industry. Any more insight as to why his clinic does not accept insurance?

hotze's techniques tend to be outdated in this form of medicine. try Arlette Pharo in the Heights, Hector del Castillo near the med center, Sakina Davis in The Woodlands (personal favorite), Kim Shroeder, Nellie Grose, Richard LeConey, John Trowbridge or Jeff Friedman

Can you clarify what you mean when you say that Hotze is outdated?

I searched for all of these people and looked at their websites. Most of them seem to have a practice centered around anti-aging and cosmetic procedures. A few of them had a page for bio-identical hormone replacement, which is something that I do not even know if I am interested in (or what it even is or treats).

Specifically, I am extremely interested in sub-lingual allergy drops. I do not believe this is "quack" science as others have stated. It is the same as allergy shots, which did help me when I had some time to make the multiple visit a week trips for injections.

My wife does have thyroid imbalance issues and medical doctors have prescribed pills for it, which don't seem to work at all.

Someone said to trust the MDs out there that want to give you scrips. I have seen first hand the effects of people who get multiple scrips from multiple doctors trying to treat different things. It is an endless cycle and it does not lead to the health of the patient.

For those who want to condemn the guy because of his politics, that is a very silly reason.

I appreciate the responses. I think I saw two or three responses of people who had actually been to the clinic and had first-hand experience. People are definitely impassioned about this guy. Could be good, could be bad...

I guess I will have to formulate my own opinion.

Thanks to all.

your wife may do better with a pure T4/T3 thyroid medication rather than a commercially available, 'natural' form (and i use that term loosely considering what the companies are calling natural (swine and mare).

why i believe hotze's process can be outdated is because he only makes about 20 different drugs to abide by the 5:1 tech to pharmacist ratio, meaning most of his medications are in the capsule form. we know that most of these drugs are more effective if administered in different forms, ie transdermal gels, lozenges because they enter the blood stream faster.

most of those people on the list do own med spas, and advertise on the internet for the med spas, but they do their primary work in HRT

Website for del Castillo advertising services and his practice? I cannot find anything for him other than the endless doctor listing sites that do nothing but list a doctor and corrupt search results.

Thanks.

Are you restricted to buying the drugs from Hotze? Can you ask for a pharmacist to fill them? Are they really drugs or are they more natural type ingredients?

Thanks.

Most doctors don't have extensive websites in my experience.

You would be better off calling his office and asking.

you're not restrictive but his doctors will definitely push you in that direction because they will prescribe you what his pharmacy can make. there's definitely a red flag with a doctor owning a pharmacy

he is a quack. what residency or research training does he have? it would surprise and terrify you to know literally almost none. He treats ill defined subclinical endocrinopathies with symptom based yet often dangerous combinations of medications based on his "experience" which is utilizing outdated techniques and medications that he manufactures and forces you to get from his pharmacy. the rest of the medical community didn't get together and decide they wanted to gyp everyone by not using the techniques he does.

Go see Dr. Chen at Southwest Asthma & Allergy in Midtown. He has a wonderful reputation among allergists for being an excellent doctor. He is also very reasonably priced.

Just to clarify, the ratio is 3:1.

He probably pushes his pharmacy because the hormones have to be compounded because the dosing and strength are individualized. You can't just go to any pharmacy and fill the prescription, but you could go to any compounding pharmacy.

Hotze does those sub-lingual drops for allergies. Some people swear by them, but I'm not doing that - only the HRT component path. You are most welcome to take any/all your prescriptions to any compounding pharmacy. Hotze might push his on-site pharmacy, but that isn't much different than big-name pharmaceuticals pushing their drugs to mainstream MDs to prescribe. I'm on Armour Thyroid which you can even get at CVS, and I do.

Do your research and do what is best for you. There are books and research papers online and at the library. I've spent two years doing research and going to way too many specialists, so hopefully this one works for me. Good luck!
