Not sure if anyone cares, but thought I'd post it. I listened for the past year or so and liked how it was strictly news.

AM radio is already full of gasbags. It was nice to know you would just get news, traffic and weather on 740.

Yeah I heard the new guy on Michael Berry show saying it was going to become a call in show. I will have to listen to my sat radio for just news but then I'm still missing out on the local stuff.

I was wondering WTF happened when I turned on the radio this morning.

I will have to listen and see what I think about the new format, but it looks like the morning show on 740 might go in the crapper just like most of the other radio shows in Houston.

This morning he was railing on homeowners associations b/c of the Marine and the flag pole thing and basically acting like a child (not trying to start a HOA debate here). Very juvinile. I can see a lot of back lash against 740 for this decision.

Not a big fan so far. Liked the JP and Lanna a lot more. Just news, traffic, weather. Usually listed for 15-20m on the drive in and flipped between them and 610AM.

Probably will give it a few more tries but it's not looking to promising so far.

I was trying to figure out what was going on this morning when my news wasn't there. Make sure to let 740 know you won't be listening, I will be.

Unfrotunately the ratings say otherwise. I will miss being able to flip over to 740 and listen to the news, however it seems like most didn't listen.

This is terrible. 740 was just the last on-air media source (TV & radio) in Houston for actual news.

100% of all other spoken media (TV & radio) and print media is filled with sensationalizing & over-hyping, bias, agendas, and self-promotion.

Genuine news other than internet AP sources is officially dead.

I'm sorry but they are absolutely right on this. Whenever the news report came on, I switched. I already was aware of the news unless something was just breaking, which is pretty much never the case. I don't want to sit there listen to them retell it to me. Get on with the show or something entertaining.

Heard a rumor that 650 is changing formats to carry more talk as well. I was not aware that anyone actually thought Houston radio needed more talk shows manufacturing outrage.

I liked the format. I could listen for thirty minutes on the way to work and get the news and weather. If I want call- in talk, then I know how to find Joe Pags on the 950.

I'll only listen to Stro's on 740 now - and then not too often because they suq now (not trying to hijack thread). Listening to Dean/Rog in the AM - switch to Sirius for drive time.

sad...used to listen to them while in the bathroom getting ready...a lot of loyal listeners will bolt

when i worked days and had to be up in the morning, i only listened to 740. sad.

Used to be on at 4AM.
Would listen to Dewey Compton during the week and Pappy on weekends.

City boy my entire life but for whatever reason would listen to Dew talking about calf ( pronounced caves) and pork belly prices at Port City stockyards in Sealy. It was a sad day when he and little Dew died in that plane crash.

those new folks are horrible.

It is my understanding JP and Lana would do very little ad spots b/c they thought it compromised their journalistic integrity (you aren't artistic and you have no integrity). The new show does tons of spots, it was an easy financial decision for the station.

I liked the morning news while getting ready or driving into work.

The dude reading the news just now (not the regular news break guy) just called Andy Pettitte "Andy Petite."

It also sounded like he ended with "News Sucks 740." It certainly does when he reads it.
