So $15 to get into the strand for Mardi Gras...Seems High. Any comments on Galveston Mardi Gras? What will the strand have on Friday that it does not on a standard Friday night?

There will be 2 stages with live bands (as opposed to dead ones). Couldn't find a schedule of the bands performing.

Went there last weekend, had a lot of fun actually. Beers were $3 for aluminum pint bottles, which is a better price than most of the bars in Houston

A 15 buck charge will keep out a lot of the turds that screw up a good thing for everyone else. I commend the promoters for searching people as well.

They had a radio show talking about this last night. The callers kept calling in saying that (relatively speaking) all the riff-raff and gangsta crap has been cut way back by the $15 fee, and that also has apparently cut back on the charge per beer, too, compared to last year.

Then again, I haven't been to the event for 15 years. You know it was going to be a wild night when the Aggie band was lined up for the parade, and some dude in the back on the sideline reaches in to his ice chest and starts handing you cold beers...and then a smoking hot brunette on the other side in a tight red sweater shows us how strechy it is...at like 5 in the afternoon....

It is actually fairly family friendly until after the parade ends/around dark.

Speaking of, how was last weekend? With my NOLA trip a week prior to Mardi Gras, I have once again proven to myself that I can not be allowed to go to New Orleans under any circumstances let alone Mardi Gras. I can onle imagine the damage I would do during.

It was pretty bad ass other than Flaith making us leave at 830am on Sunday to catch a flight. We ended up in a hotel balcony suite for most of Friday

Several years ago there was a charge and there was still plenty of riff raff and such.

Well, there's riff-raff, and then there's riff-raff that doesn't have 15 bucks. Those are the fools you have to really worry about. Keep'em out!

I've been Saturday during the day the last ~3 years. Walk around the strand for free, drinking beer in the streets, catching beads meant for the gaggle of 3ft kids standing next to me.

Always get off the island before the bros come out at night, but if you stay there are boobies to be had.

Haven't been in 10 years, the Cholos mad dogging everyone and and trying to start fights was enough for me. If i want to go that bad I'll go to NOLA.

Hahaha! That does suck. Week prior we all had a flight out at 7pm Sunday, but around 4 we all decided we were enjoying ourselves too much, switched our flights to 6am Monday, stayed up drinking until it was time to hit the airport and ended up rolling into work straight from the airport in the same boubon street stained blue jeans, booze and smoke reeking t-shirt, and looking like death warmed over.

I have been to both many many times.

There are actually more boobs to be had in Galveston. They girls want cheap **** beads, you give them to them, and there you go. You can also move around unlike Bourbon St.

That said, the boobs are usually better on Bourbon.

I hear Reckless Kelly will be there this weekend. Anyone know of any other decent things worth going to? (Besides for the boobies)
