Anybody have any recommendations on good German restaurants in Houston?

Been craving some of the food I remember from my trip to Deutschland a year ago. Preferably ITL but I would be happy with any authentic place within the City.

Rudi Lechners is usually the go-to.

+1 for Rudi's.

Stuffed Chicken Fried Steak is good.

I find it to be pretty good. Do not know if Old Heildelburg on Fountainview is still there.

I keep wanting to try the Polish resturant. Not sure where it is, I think it is north of I-10 West between Beltway and loop? can't be to many. I assume it has decent german/polish style sausage. Usually hard to find. Most fillings are ground to fine for my taste.

Interesting to see the final responses.

I heard that the Alpine Brauhaus is now re-opened. It is in Webster on N bound side of 45. Never been there, but it is on my list.

Last time I went to alpine was 5yrs ago but it was great at the time.

Rudi's is a good bet. Old Heidelberg on fountainview is another option but I don't recommend it. We ordered a "sausage and cheese" plate that turned out to be crappy grocery store breakfast links with kraft singles.

Preferably REAL German food but seems with the selection of German restaurants here, beggars can't be choosers.

Go to Rudi Lechners on any night but Wednesday.

The stuff they serve on the buffet isn't any where near as good as when you order it off the menu.

Polonia was pretty good too, but I have had any other Polish food so i don't have anything to compare it too.

I used to go to Alpine Brauhaus when it was on Hwy 3 haven't been since they reopened. Always thought it was good food.

They're in the strip center at NASA Road 1 and 45 that has the(for the next few weeks anyways) the Star Furniture.

And on the weekends Rudi's had Alpenfest to provide some atmosphere.

The Polish resturant is the in same area as the polish food store which is in the same area as the polish church. Needless to say...its as authentic as you can get to Polish food in Texas. So good! Love buying the sausage for the grill.

There's a place called Old Heidelberg on Fountain View near San Felipe. Never been there, I just drive by it frequently.
