Any suggestions on a Mexican restaurant in the woodlands area?

Theres a Guadalajara near the mall parking lot towards the I-45 feeder road.

Theres a Chuys a couple exits past the mall, next to pappasitos.

I know these are more chained tex-mex, but usually the ones we hit before a show at the pavilion.

Side note: how did you manage to get the elusive double AgTag?

There's also a Lupe's in The Woodlands. Or try Berryhill Baja Grill and Cantina

And I'm also curious of the double ag tag

Ricos - 3 locations. Sawdust, research forest and one in the back of the woods also off rersearch forest.

Los Cucos - two locations. 1 near panther creek???? and a new one where the Cafe Adobe was on the south bound feeder of I-45 just south of 242.

Chuys - by pappadeaux on North bond side of 45. Just north of research.

Guadalahara - By the Target on west side of 45.

Lupe Tortilla - By red Robin north bond side of 45. Just south of research.

El Bosque - I love this place. Hole in the wall in the parking lot of Sam's just north of Research. Cheap and good.

Marios - Maybe too far south but off Rayford on the east side of 45 next to Double Dave's. Cheap hole in the wall. I like it but a lot of people don't.

There is also a new place opening up on the waterway. Not sure if it's open yet probably not. Looks like it will be good and I'm looking forward to trying it out.

El Bosque is good. There are about 6 or 7 of them around The Woodlands and Conroe.

And Los Cucos is all the way in Conroe unless there's another one. I-45 and 336

There are 3 El Bosque's. The original recently moved from the southbound feeder before you get to Research to the Portofino Shopping Center in the farthest strip next to Sam's. The other 2 are in Conroe. It's our go to for Mexican food around here.
Rico's is garbage, don't waste your money. They don't even serve fajitas on a sizzling platter.
For other non-chain places there's Alamo Joe's and Mama Juanita's.
Chain go-to's include: Chuy's, Lupe Tortilla, Cafe Adobe, and Los Cucos

Where Cafe Adobe was is now a Los Cucos. Saw it on the way to church Sunday morn. It's just south of 242 on the west side of 45.

Alamo Joes in now a Rico's. Once they conquer Tex-Mex in South Montgomery county they will begin to take over the world.

Yeah I'm not that big of a fan of Rico's but everyone around the area acts like it's the greatest mexican food.

Wow, shows how much I get out. I live right by the Rico's at Research and GM so we've given it several chances, it's just been terrible every time. So surprising that place has such a following.

Rico's is good and depends on the location. Not great by any means. The original in Alden Bridge still does the best job.

They get the majority of my business because they are 5 minutes from the house versus a 15 min drive to the interstate.

I appreciate all the help.

For those who asked about the double ag tag, I wish there was a cool story but it was really just me being impatient and emailing texags twice to get it.

Rico's: sucks
Berryhill: Good tamales and fish tacos but besides that it's ok.
Lupe Tortilla: Is decent but overpriced in my mind.
Los Cucos: Freaking terrible.
Chuys: Love it, always have. Anything you get is good.
Guadalajara: My favorite in the woodlands, the fajitas are great as are the specialty dishes.
Overall, I'm a sucker for hole in the walls but there are just not any good ones here. I would go with Chuy's for cheaper tex-mex or Guadalajara if you want great fajitas.

Drive south on 45 and exit 2920 and go to El Pelenque. Good food and great margaritas.

Los Cucos in Panther Creek Shopping Center. Been money for years.

El Pelenque is really good.
Up 2978 and 1488 there are some really good places.

7 Leguas is great.

El pelenque is our spot. But we"re also in spring but it's by far my favorite Mexican food place. Cheap and so so good queso and fajitas. Top it off with good margs and it can't be beat. We eat there twice a month

+1.... My favorite in The Woodlands.

Chuy's is also hard to beat with their Jalapeno Ranch salsa/dip.

Another vote for El Bosque here.

Also, Los 2 Amigos next to the Valera in Oak Ridge is pretty good. Intersection of I-45 and Robinson Rd

Same here. Gave that place a few chances and it never impressed me....

Not a fan of the El Bosque chain.

Love Chuy's, not your average Tex-Mex.

Guadalahara is excellent

Lupe Tortilla is great, but it's more about the fajitas there. They have some of the best fajitas I've ever had. Their Soft Chicken Tacos are money too.

I like Mama Juanitas at 242 & 45

As said above, the hole in the wall places are in Conroe.

Rancho Grande is my favorite in Conroe. Margaritas and Peppers is decent, but you won't find better service anywhere else.

If you're looking for more authentic then the other stuff listed, Taqueria Sol De Mexico is wonderful.

Other Authentic places in Conroe - La Palma Mexicana, La Flor Mexicana.

This. La Palma has the best tacos I've ever had in my life. SMH @ some of these suggestions. Berryhill? Guadalahara? lulz.

Are fajitas considered Mexican food? Agree that the fajitas are weak, but otherwise Ricos is solid.

Also, what road is "GM"? There are 3 on Research: one at the front by Schlotzkys, one at Gosling (former Alamo Joes) and one at Alden Bridge (the original).

Casa elana closed several years ago.
Los amigios (next to the Valero station) is pretty good. Robinson road going into oak ridge. Small place, but good.
