I’m looking at the apt complexes in the Energy Corridor area based on the recommendation of this board. Specifically, at the ones on Eldridge Parkway that fall under the Corridor.

1) What do y’all know about the following complexes? I couldn’t really find reviews on these apts.

A)Village on the Parkway Corporate Apts
1333 Eldridge Parkway , Houston, TX 77077

B)AMLI on Eldridge Parkway
1415 Eldridge Parkway, Houston, TX 77077

C)Broadstone
875 N Eldridge Pkwy, Houston, Texas 77079

2)Is the commute time pretty long for any place on Beechnut? Seems like all the above complexes are about 10 miles away. Is that reasonable?

Appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!

It seems like none of these apt complexes have good ratings on the apartment ratings website. Is the Energy Corridor not good either?

A lot of these complexes look nice, but the poor ratings usually come as a result of the surrounding residents - lots of problems with burglaries of vehicles and residences. Seems like all the thugs nearby hit these apartments for easy scores.

I'm running out of options with regard to my apt search. I'm not sure which other areas I need to look into.

Hawk, I'm at Amli right now. I'm moving to Cypress this month, but I've had no problems with Amli. I've felt safe there, and haven't seen anything to make me feel otherwise. The immediate area around it is really nice, and the people that live in the apartments are young professionals/people that work in the Energy Corridor/Enclave area. I'd recommend them, nothing fancy, but convenient and safe by my experience.

One of my girlfriends used to live at Amli & would say the same things as Jock.

Broadstone is a really nice property and well managed. It would be my top pick out of those 3 choices.

i lived at AMLI for two years and for the most part agree with above. The area is nice and so are the apartments. There is a problem with burglaries though and I'm not sure why they didn't mention it above. It seems like once every two weeks I would get a letter on my door from management letting me know about a car/apartment burglary. There were a few buildings in the back of the complex that seemed to be where most theft was taking place. I lived closer to the front and during my two years there never had one issue or saw anything.

Traffic on Eldridge can be horrible at times and the street is constantly being repaired.

My wife and I lived at Broadstone Memorial from Nov 08 - Nov 09 and would highly recommend it. We felt it was the safest and best built complex that we visited in the area.

I currently live in Broadstone Memorial. I enjoy it. The people above me are a little loud, but that is too be expected in an apartment complex. There have been a few isolated incidents, but nothing major where I didn't feel safe. The common facilities are nice. I also like the easy access to I-10 and the Sam Houston Tollway. Memorial City Mall, City Centre and Bunker Hill HEB are just a stones throw away.

If you consider this apartment complex, please contact me, and I'd be happy to split the referral bonus with you.

AgLandman, I've been in Amli from May until now, and I've only got one crime letter for someone getting robbed while walking outside the complex. I don't know if they've made changes since you were there, or if they aren't letting us know of every incident, but that's the only thing I've heard in 7 months. I live in the back of the complex as well, and have had no issues.

look into the complexes along park row as well, like between barker cypress and hwy 6.

Jock - thats good to know its better as of late. I was there from May of 2008 - August of 2010. Yes it was worse before you lived there. We were getting letters every few weeks. Then the apartment met with HPD officers and implemented some sort of new security plan and the crimes went down. That seems to have worked.

The manager's name is Kim and she's an Aggie so I would go talk to her.

I'm in the process of moving out of a very nice townhouse in the area where the rent is competitive with the local apartments. If you're interested, I could put you in touch with the landlord. What's your price range?

$700 - $850

I've also started looking into the apartments around the Galleria area.

Bella Capri, Tuscany, Tuscany Oaks and Tuscany Park are some good options in that price range

I pay $740/month + utilities at Broadstone. The apartments are well appointed and have nice finishes like granite counters, laminate wood floors, and stainless steel appliances.
