i bought 2 tickets for $200 from a scalper in the orange lot. the tickets looked real legit. when i went to get it scanned at the gate, they didn't scan at all. the gate guy told me to go to the ticket office and talk to a guy named willie. when i got to that line, there was a long line of people who had also got scammed. obviously there was nothing that the ticket office could do. all they could do was file a report

just how prevalent is this out at reliant? i scalped some tickets last year, but they were legit. a good lesson for me. if i decide to do it again, i'm at least asking for ID and/or taking a picture of the mofo

If you can't trust your scalper, who can you trust anymore?!

It's the Texans doing it. They hire shady guys to sell fake tickets to make even more $$ off the fans. Just ask LIOHB.

some friends with us had to sell their extra tickets at face value ($85 each) two hours prior to game time... sorry to hear an ag miss out.

You could do the same thing with any tickets. I know you can have your A&M tickets emailed to yourself and then the hard tix are no longer valid.

You could do this and then stick it to a scalper.

the Texans made announcements to fans telling them to beware of scalpers because they were getting lots of reports of fakes being sold, which was true.
and beware of scalping, HPD-Texans security uses undercover officers to nail scalpers-The NFL has a zero tolerance policy regarding scalpers.

KW02 - your plan is a good thought, but the scalper is not trying to go to the game. he's going to sell them to another unsuspecting fan.

Nowif ou want to do this a tech fan in few weeks more power to you.

Were they actual tickets or e-tickets (printed on 8.5X11)? I bought e-tickets from a scalper at Minute Maid, but made him come with me to the gate.

I guess you are right. I do not want to cheat anyone but give the scalper what is coming to him.

what is the law on reselling tickets. at what point do you become a scalper if you are tying to get rid of some tickets.

when you exceed the face value per ticket.

Well DT, At least I know the right Asian to go see when I need one of my "Prescriptions" filled. Surely it's easier to forge a script than a NFL Ticket.

So I can never legally make a profit on extra tickets? I don't think you are right.

I guess what I am asking is not what defines scalping.. but what will get me in trouble with the law.
spadilly

probably being "on property" selling them for above face value.

thats why you see most scalpers across the street from minute maid/toyota center when selling tickets.
jetch17

you cant sell over face on the property grounds of the event...thats why all the heehaws & hoolihoos are out by pappasitos and sh*t on the feeder leading up to the stadium

jetch and spadilly are correct. Scalping is only illegal on stadium grounds. Once you cross a street it's legit unless there's a city ordinance but rarely does that exist.

To be honest I'm surprised more cities haven't enacted ordinances to require permits of scalpers just to get some more coin.

The City of Arlington actually requires a permit for anyone selling parking spaces in the city so the City gets some more coin. Don't think that would fly in South Dallas near the Cotton Bowl...

What about the guys around the Astros games with tents?

I was trying to sell extra Stro's tickets (two years ago when we had an OK team and it was a Red Sox game) and was stopped by an HPD officer who asked for my permit.

Heb, they have permits and are off the property of the stadium.
Same thing goes for all of the small ticket stores you see in strip centers.

the very first time i bought tickets from a guy outside, it was astros, i happen to be right by the ticket scanner lady, she said they've already been used.

Well the guy who sold them hadn't run off, so I grabbed him and gave em a piece of my mind, he had two more, i said follow me to the scanner lady.

his 2nd pair got me in. since then, I have the seller follow me to the entrance.
