I need a pair for my job and will be around heavy machinery. I don't know anything about them so any advice would be helpful.

Red Wings are the obvious choice, IMO. You should be able to get a decent pair of steel toes for around 200 bucks. If you want to spend half the price, you can usually find Wolverine DuraShocks for around 100ish. Both are comfortable.

Red Wings also last forever.

Another vote for Red Wings. My dad has been wearing Red Wings steel toes for 40 years. I joined the Red Wing clan when I first started wearing boots. I unfortunately lost one of my steel toes, but my other ones (non steel toed) are 15 years old and still as good as new.

red wings or wolverines. can't go wrong with either if you ask me. I wear red wings pretty much daily now though.

My Wolverine Durashocks are really comfortable. Would highly recommend...and they are ~10 years old. Durable durable boots.

I "accidentally" went to my running class in college in my wolverine durashock steel toes and ran 2.5 miles in them. They were more comfortable than my tennis shoes. I love them.

I like the Timberland Pro series, I think Academy carries them.

you know every body praises there redwings.. good boots.. but a good boot can be had for less.
Road wolf. I've got a pair of red wing steel toe, they took a whole lot of wearing before they were as broken in and as comfortable as the first time i wore the road wolfs.. try it on, you'll be amazed.
