Long story short - was in the wife's car this morning with no XM and flipping through the channels heard that ABC 13 is looking to replace traffic guy Don Nelson with someone who can compete with Reyna.

Anyone else hear this? Poor guy has been there like 30 years and might get bumped cause he isn't "appealing" enough.

Darby Douglas is no longer on Ch. 11 either. They just hired a blonde chick to do their traffic, but I haven't really looked into it. Jennifer is my traffic girl of choice.

Don Nelson has had a few major health scares in his life and is looking really old in person. I wouldn't be surprised if he just wanted to retire and this is the story that the other news outlets in Houston are running with to make KTRK look bad, especially after the Minerva Perez ordeal.

KTRK thought Minerva was getting too old, so they were trying to push her out before her contract was up because they didn't want to be the guys that kicked out one influential Latina out of her anchor position. They offered her the 11am anchor position, which was a big demotion from her morning news anchor position. When she said no, the only other option for her was to be let out of her contract and sent on her merry way, which KTRK happily obliged.

LULAC and a few other influential Latino groups tried to fight on her behalf, especially since she was such a presence in those communities. But because KTRK had covered their behinds pretty well, there was nothing they could do about it.
