Looking for recommendations on a computer repair shop in Houston. I live in NW Houston.

Unless it's a laptop, I'd recommend doing it yourself.

Yep, I've already tried several times. Repair shops are never my first choice.

Did you try the nerdery? We can help :P I mean, unless you just are fine with throwing $200+ at it to make it go away, it's not that hard to resolve.

Well that is definitely an easy problem to diagnose if you have an extra vid card. Any PC repair shop would certainly be able to do that but most likely would charge you $100+ just to diagnose. It would be cheaper to run to Best Buy, buy a $50 card, test it out, if it does not work as well, take it back for a refund, and then you will know your MOBO is bad. Which it would probably not be worth replacing.

Yeah that's the impression I was getting after researching online about the similar problem. If that's the case, I'd be much happier just replacing the vid card anyways. Thanks for your help.

Just make sure you get the right kind of vid card. Being that old, it might be an AGP card.

so it is PCI-e. should be easy to find a cheap ass one then. just like that one.

Drumma, I know a good shop right off of I-10 in one of the villages. They were cheap and good with none of the "computer guy" condescension.
