Moving into an apartment in Houston next week (zip 77007). Will be living there for 5 months with one other intern. Need advice on a power provider and cable/internet provider(s). I've looked at powertochoose.com for electricity but low price doesn't mean anything if the company sucks. TIA.

I've only used Amigo here in Houston, they've been fine for me and seem to be pretty competitive with pricing. Since I'm renting I like the option for 6 month fixed rates.

As for cable, I've been with both Comcast and Uverse. I like Uverse, I liked Comcast. As much as folks here complain about Comcast (and not without reason) I can't say that they've treated me badly, and they were very generous to me when I was in Galveston during Ike and on our subsequent move up to Houston.

I've had no issues with TXU (had them about 6 months now) and I've had comcast in 2 different apartments, cable and internet, and I've had no issues.
