I know this is not College Station so I shouldn't be expecting those prices, but what should I expect it to cost to fill a keg here in Houston? Something in the realm of Bud Light/Coors Light/Miller Lite...

When I called Specs I was quoted $100 to get a keg of Coors filled and then about $140 or so for a deposit including the shell, tap and everything I would need since I no longer have anything like that in my possession.

Does this price sound reasonable or do grocery stores fill as well like the HEB in CS does?

TIA

If you want to brave the Wally World crowds, I think a few of the super centers carry them and they might be slightly cheaper ($75 ish or so). I've gotten a few from them, but not in the past couple of years.

I went through this in the Summer. Specs was the best option. They return all deposits after you return it.

Try Fiesta, or the Fiesta package store at Shepherd and the North Loop.

The Fiesta Beverage marts near some of their grocery stores have them also. I think they are about $90 or so for Miller or Bud light.

I don't think you're going to find any $75 kegs of decent beer in Houston.

Maybe Keystone of Natty.

why would you wanna fill a keg?

I usually work towards emptying them.

You don't get it "filled" per se. You take your empty and they give you another. Typically there's a deposit, around 100 bucks. The the actual beer, is about 80, plus renting a can to put the keg in and the tap and you are around the price u mentioned. Specs is usally the best place.

why would there be a keg deposit if you brought in the shell?

yeh it;s like propane.. if you bring an empty.. you don't pay that extra deposit.

Sorry for the confusion...

It's a force of habit to reference "filling a keg" when in need of one I guess. I am in need of the beer in the keg as well as all that a deposit would be put down for, shell, tap and even trash can or "tub" as they keep calling it.

I did call the Walmart in Kemah and she did not like how I kept saying I needed pricing on getting a keg filled, she was saying they only "rented" them if thats what I wanted. They had 3 options, Bud, Bud Light, and Miller Lite at $87.50 and I could hardly understand her when she was talking about deposit prices.

I don't know if there is a Fiesta anywhere down there anymore but it looks Specs will just be the easiest. Wasn't sure what the options were.

Thanks.

Is there a party I should know about? $88 is probably about as good as you are going to do in the area, specs will rent you the tub and tap.

I got a free husky trashcan out of it a couple years ago because they forgot to put it on my receipt.

Here are the kegs that Specs has available (downtown location). Spend a little extra and get something decent. Shiner Bohemian black is only a few bucks more than lite beer.

Thanks Wessimo. That's where I'll end up going. I called the downtown location and the one in Clear Lake and the prices were the same they probably just have more options in town. I might change it up and get something different but that Lone Star for $80.27 looks appealing! haha

TMoney - we're having a holiday party at my parents house in CL, there will be some Friendswoodians in attendance, Nes is a no-go though since he'll be with the rib in NYC. I'll send you the info if you're interested.
