There's street parking with meters and surface lots all around and I'd guess they're less than $6 for the day since parking garages nearby are about $12 to $15 per day.

And you don't have to pay after 5pm or on weekends.

Careful with the meter parking if you are going to be away from your vehicle any extended amount of time. The "hopper" pass is 6 bucks a day but makes you move your car every two hours which is just odd to me...plus the crazy signage on some blocks leaves you guessing about where you can actually legally park even when a meter is present. I got a $300 ticket (contested down to $55) on Rusk because my back bumper was too close to the commercial vehicles only sign...half the block was metered the other half was commercial. Moral of the story...meter maid officers suck and you should probably just pay to park in a garage.

I ended up finding a garage 2 blocks away from my office that is only $6/day so I'm set now.

There's a privately owned lot on the South Side of George R Brown thats $7/day as long as you don't need to go in and out. It's a bit of a walk past the convention center, but not bad this time of year. There's another private lot on the north side of the convention center but I'm not sure on their prices.

Not true. It's after 6pm and you do have to pay on Saturdays.(for meters)

If you are looking for somewhere to park for tonight's Microsoft event I suggest you valet, it might be easier.

Otherwise just park in a metered spot, like someone said, they are free after 6.

If you're asking for this weekend, just cruise around until you find a $5 lot. I usually park on the downtown side of MMP (not on the other side of 59) and always can get a $5 or $10 lot within a 2 block walk.

Only if you have jury duty. You have to show your summons to the cashier, otherwise I think it's $15-20

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm asking because of the Houston College Classic this weekend.

One of my biggest pet peeves is having to pay for parking. That and going below posted speeds on highways. So I don't venture into downtown that often.

I (and by "I," I mean the SO) called Minute Maid and they said you can park in their lots for $5 this weekend.
