Saw a funny arse video on youtube and got into a debate over how much he makes...anybody care to guess?

Depends on the franchise... but they are in the $75k-$100k range usually. Clutch prolly makes 100grand. I used to hang out with Toro a couple years back and was Toro's "security guard" at a couple events like the Texans inaugural uniform unveiling, first pitch/throw at the minute maid, etc. I was actually on the field when Dom Capers threw the ball. Got a dirty look from Drayton... never could figure out why.

Anyway, the really big guys like the baseball Chicken, Phoenix Gorilla, Spurs Coyote, those guys make some big jack. Could be $150k-$200k.

They don't make anywhere near that. Sports teams don't pay dick.

Wow, I never would have guessed more than 50k or so for a mascot...

i always thought it was a part time gig.

it blew my mind when we were told he makes 300+ events a year.

spadilly is right. Clutch is doing fine. He's a buddy of mine and he's doing pretty well. We've never talked about his salary but we were talking about 401Ks one day so I backed into how much he was making.

He was actually looking at getting his MBA from Rice or UH but just couldn't pull the trigger on taking that much time away from being Clutch. He makes most of his money in appearance money as I think he keeps 70% or so.

I've been with him during games and that dude bust his ass. I got to be in the costume one time for a promotion and I don't know how he does it. You couldn't pay me the money he's making to do it but he's perfect for it.

He's a really good guy and earns every dime he makes.

The Denver Nuggets mascot has a contract for $350,000 I believe. He threatened to walk away and the fans were outraged so Denver threw big money at him.

they make more than professional cheerleaders.. they make minimum wage. i would be shocked if someone really was making $150k as a prof mascot.

Absolutely. Tim Derk, the original Spurs Coyote is in the mascot HOF and is considered one of the best mascots ever. He had a stroke believed in part due to his mascot duties and now has a front office job. He was a tennis pro before that.

Yeah, that stuff is hot. I was the mascot for basketball games in HS. Run around, play then go drink a gallon of water. I bet Clutch gets to clean his costume more than I did, but that thing - especiallying being as big as it is - has gotta be hot. Like 120degrees hot.

The Phillie Fanatic is over played. His highlight reel is nowhere close to clutch in the past few years

After 3 or 4 beers, Clutch in the huge inflatable Clutch costume is the funniest thing ever.

I'm not sure what it looks like completely sober, but it's damn funny with a good buzz.

Has the same guy been doing it since the beginning? I was at a party way back in like 96 or 97 and this guy was claiming to Clutch. If I remember correctly the dude even had a tattoo of Clutch so everyone was pretty convinced it had to be him.
