friend is getting married in ft. worth this weekend. where would be a good place thats not a strip club (he's going to school to be a minister, so i dont think that'd go over too well) to take him and have a few drinks and sit around with the guys???

Where are you staying? Care for live music or anything like that? Quiet place? Beer or mixed drinks?

There's lots of different places depending on what you're looking for.

I-20 and Hulen at some house in Ft. Worth.

live music would be nice.

probably beer, but maybe something that has a full bar. his wedding is the day after so we dont want to tear him up too much. he's gotta have some gas in the tank for the wedding night.

Velvet Love Box is playing at Tumbleweed's on 7/21, they are always a great show.

There's not a ton of places over there, but there's a few places at I-20 and Bryant Irvin which is not too far away. Some others on this board know that area better than me, but there's a Fox and Hound over there as well as Woody's Tavern.

I've never been to Woody's but I hear it's a pretty cool place and has live music:

You can always go Downtown and hit the Pour House or Flying Saucer. Downtown Fort Worth is generally laid back and not clubby like you would think of most Downtowns.

If you want touristy Fort Worth, you can hit The Stockyards. It's country, but it's pretty cool on occassion.

Don't let the name fool you, but the Love Shack is a great place to grab a few beers and hear some live music. It's open air and not as hot as you would think since the humidity appears to be gone.

The White Elephant is next door.

There's also a string of new bars that I've never been to and have no idea what it's like, but it's just on the other side of Main on Exchange. There's a website but I can't find it.

8.0's has great live music and a really nice patio - it's downtown and can get crowded on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.

Flying Saucer is great and has hundreds of beer selections (just beer and wine though - no liquor).

Baker Street is a good one that has a good beer selection and a full bar & live music on the weekends.

The Hulen Fox & Hound blows. Don't go there unless your idea of a good time is ****ty food and horrible service. Maybe try Baker St. Pub off of Camp Bowie. Or if you're into dive bars try The Mule. The Mule is in a battle with Oui Lounge Cocktails for smokiest bar in Ft. Worth. If you want laid back/low key go to Gingerman on Camp Bowie just West of Montgomery St. Gingerman is beer/wine only. No liquor.

Baker St usually has a live band on the weekends, but nothing too loud you cant talk over.

The Mule is a great dive bar with live music as well.

The Shamrock is pub with pool and darts.

The Bornx Zoo is more of a sports bar but they also have pool and video games (golden tee) and shuffle board.

Houston St Bar and Grille is a laid back bar down town.

8.0s has a great patio and good live music.

The Pour House gets load and crowded.

The Library is cheap but also loud and crowded.

Petes is a piano bar

There are others I am forgetting, but thats a pretty good idea of the area.

The closest bars to you would be anything in City View (The Horseman, Woodys and the Lone Star Oyster Bar) and then Baker St and The Mule.

There are also a good number of bars by TCU.

If you are from Auburn, you might want to head over to the Mellow Mushroon on Bluebonnet Circle...

Keys Lounge or the Poop Deck around that area. I'd avoid downtown and 'trendy' bars. If you want that, go to Dallas.

ooooh jwag have you actually been to the Poop Deck? My friend stopped there once but I haven't ever gone but am curious.

You could start at lone star oyster bar. I like their outside patio and the food isn't terrible. In that same location is Woody's which is a college type atmosphere, then Horseman which is the country cougar hangout, and the F&H.

I like Pete's downtown if you want something different, and 8.0's and flying saucer. There are a couple comedy clubs downtown in sundance square as well if you are looking for something like that.

Yeah, my neighbors actually own the place. Sometimes it can be shady but it's not that bad, give it a shot.

Excellent.

Any bar you can bring your dog into is OK by me.

Can you take hounds to both Keys and the Poop Deck? Is one better than the other for hounds?

Also like seeing the love for Finn's. I just wish they had a deck on the backside. It gets a little too smokey in there.

I've never actually been to Keys... We used to always go eat as a family at Mi Charittos since I was around 5, which is right across the street. (Food sucks there now by the way).

I've seen two different dogs in the Poop Deck on different nights... Whether or not they were the owners or not, I'm not sure.

Are we talking about the same poop deck? The one at Granbury and....Granbury?

I mean there can't be two, that would be just too good. Get some beer then visit the Mexican meat market next door.
