Anyone go to this church? It's been in the news recently something about dragging up your 'sins' for the whole congregation to judge...


But I hear it is all 'young' people (25-35) years old.... I'm debating if I should check it out or not.

Is that the church that had at one time planned to build a church that looks like a battleship?

I like church buildings not church boats.

There were plans for a "battleship church" that fell through. I have no idea about how that was going to happen or how it originated.

I've been a few times. It looks like they have a thriving young adult singles fellowship. It's about 5 years old, and is a split off from Northwest Bible Church on Northwest Highway.

I also was sitting behind the great Chuck Norris and his hot wife one time. We had an awkward exchange during the "panic talk" segment when the pastor makes you greet your neighbors, as I didn't realize who this short, scruffy guy was until a second after I shook his hand.

Well, that's just REAL attractive.

They are making all kinds of waves b/c apparently the pastor revealed some infidelity for all too see between paritioners.

She loves it and says that there is a lot of people in the 'young' crowd.

Yeah, I've heard that they are very 'involved' in their parishoners lives...

And now that someone mentioned it, I do remember hearing it being cultish. The girl who lives in our guest house goes there, she used to attend northwest bible, so that makes sense.

I think I will pass.

There's a poster on R&P that's a member. I can't imagine why anyone would join giving what they do if they discover you're doing something wrong in your life.

Well, I certainly wouldn't want someone meddling in my business. My Mom is in charge of that.

Watermark meets at Lake Highlands HS for two services each Sunday and one communion service at their building at LBJ around Hillcrest.

After reading the link, it seems clear that WC was just following the bible as it best knows how. Go to the individual involved (Mr Doe), with two people, etc. I assume Mr Doe or Ms Roe is a lawyer and didn't want their infidelity brought to a larger audience. They assumed that a letter was going to the whole church but it was intended to just go to the people involved. This all seems very scriptural but not accepted Western practice.

WC strives to be a heartfelt, outreach church and I applaud it for its spirit. My wife and I thought Todd Wagner was a bit too much of a rock star and we wanted adult bible classes. WC only offers kids' classes at the time we went, but our four year old liked the classes. It's largely a 22-40 aged yuppie crowd.

Sounds like you are a real open minded person. I've met one of their associate pastors a few times, and he's a good guy. It's ironic to see someone talk about going to church, when he appears to have such an intolerant view.

Having an impression that is based on the actions of the church doesn't make on intolerant.

What actions has anyone posted here to show proof that it should be labeled as a "cult"? Sounds like a fairly intolerant statement to me and anyone else with half a brain.

With the apparent bad press they've gotten, at least from the posted link, I don't think there is anything wrong for someone to take a pass on what can be perceived as being overly "involved in their parishoners lives". How a person worships or who they choose to worship with is a personal choice and I don't think "intolerant". Its not like he said that church should be disbanded.

I am on here asking for information about the church. I've heard good things and bad things about it. I am just asking for anyone's opinions on it. If you have good things to say about it, then by all means, I want to hear it.
