My daughter is at an event and I am looking for an update

Dfw scanner on FB said there is an incident but that is all I have found.

They just updated stating a large fight broke out, prompting evacuations.

Thanks my daughter is at the cheer thing there working and has left the building unexpectedly

She texted that she was OK but did not elaborate

Some kind of shooting. Daughter is there. Swat everywhere. Trying to to figure it out

That's more disturbing my daughter is now several blocks away and has been told to return to their hotel

I guess the event is not starting up again soon

Dfw scanner said no confirmed reports of shooting but they are searching the area. Injuries reported from being trampled.

No shooting. Fighting between parents.
Only injuries were from a stampede.

Yep, early reports were thankfully wrong.

We left minutes before it happened. Still have our other teams there. Luckily ok.

Yep. Initial reports of shooter or shots fired were false according to DPD. Parent brawl started chaos. All it takes in that group is one person to say "shooter" or "gunshot", and the panic spreads like wildfire. We were sitting in our hotel room about to leave when we heard the reports.

So much false reporting about a shooter. Even people there saying they "heard gunshots" which I highly doubt.

Sad that all those kids were scared to death by the panic and some even injured in the panic.

Seems like a few years ago something dropped on the hard floor of a crowded mall, and word spread quickly that it was gunfire & caused a stampede.

Two poles falling caused a loud noise which started the stampede. Obviously pretty scary when everyone is stampeding and people are getting trampled but I am getting a little kick out of the moms who posted they survived a mass shooting and marking themselves safe.

Drama from competitive cheer moms?

Who knew?

We were sitting outside the Omni when everyone came out running it was mass chaos. I immediately got my daughter inside the building we were sitting next to and started scanning the area. About five minutes later another swarm of people came running back from the downtown area where they had just ran to and then about five minutes later another swarm came running out of the convention center. Girls were falling down, parents separated from their kids, kids crying and scared. It was extremely disheartening and a very sad sight. My daughter was shook up pretty good, but we finally made our way to city hall where our gym had been evacuated to and the girls all confirmed each other. Today is very different and you can tell a lot of innocence was lost yesterday all bc some idiots couldn't act like adults.
