Looking to do as much of this on my own as I can. Assuming I need a licensed irrigator to stamp some plans and a licensed plumber to connect BFP to city line?

Anybody else here ever trailblazed your own irrigation system? Only tough labor part I foresee is having to bore under my driveway.

Irrigator can install backflow for you, make sure they're licensed and pull a permit. Shouldn't be much more than $3-400. Then I assume if you're doing it yourself you know the basics. If you're concerned about flow rates and the design of the system I'd honestly hire a company, wouldn't be fun to mess it up and not properly water your lawn or have issues down the road. Can easily find guys doing $700 a zone plus BFP. There's also companies that will design a layout for you. What heads and what size pipe so you can ensure you have enough pressure in the system.

Haven't done any calcs or taken any measurements on my flow rate yet, but I did see that Rain Bird offers a pretty cheap service to help you design a system after sending in a few pieces of info on your home. It's like $15 so figured I'd give it a shot. No way that comes with any sort of stamp or legit drawings though I believe. I guess I can call the city and ask if I need stamped drawings to pull the permit.

Just the material cost for a 1" DCVA plus the boxes for it plus isolation valve plus y strainer and brass nipple is like $300+ plus tax. No chance anybody is installing that for $3-400 unless they like to work for free. That doesn't even get into the cost of the city permit (around $85) or the backflow test (around $65). That brings cost paid by installer to $450-$500 BEFORE labor. Not sure how the customer would pay $200+ less than installer unless they're in for losing a lot of money

That's what I paid last summer, but was from a good friend though.
