Tell me the good, the bad, the ugly of living here. Thoughts on day-to-day life, schools, community appreciated.

I currently work in Midlothian a couple of days of week and this might be increasing soon...currently live in North Oak Cliff.

We have lived here for 5 years and are about to put our house on the market.
Good, great house/property at really good price when we moved down here. Town is less busy, traffic moves along pretty good, people are pleasant (at the worst indifferent).

Of my favorite thing, the parks and community events are great. They have plenty of free concerts and events for families. The best thing is that it seems to be the town only unlike all the Waxahachie and Mansfield events that get super crowded.
Midlothian Community park is fantastic. Sports season just ended but the last few weeks have been great up there. Baseball, soccer, flag football all going on, with the cool playgrounds, splash pad, beach volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts all being used. Honestly one of the best parks around.
Bad: although it is getting new stores and restaurants all the time, still feels like we need to go to Waxahachie, Mansfield, or cedar hill for nearly everything outside of groceries.
Ugly: don't really hate anything about it. Going to actually miss it. I do worry that the city is not ready for the growth that is about to happen. Roads aren't going to be quite ready for all the new homes that are planned.
Overall our time here was great for use until now. It's just time to move a little closer to where we are plugged in at.

There's the cement plants. Don't forget those if you like to - well, breathe.

The cement plant is enough to keep me away from there.

Lived here for 22 years, I personally love it. Town is growing for the better. Schools are great. You'll get your typical complaints like any district. I was in MISD schools from K-12 and never had any issues. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Been here for six years. Our best friends grew up here but recently moved. Things change over time but there are definitely worse places to live. Our kids are active in rec league sports and my wife and I are very involved with our church. Growing pains are a concern for sure but all in all it's a great town to raise a family .

Are the various schools fairly similar in terms of quality across MISD? Or are their certain schools which are head and shoulders above the others?

Thanks! This was a very helpful summary. We are fairly low need in term of shopping, etc. We got used to being in a "shopping desert" in Oak Cliff.
