Took a job in Arlington last year but don't want to stay here. What are some good areas with less expensive houses or nice apartments? Nearby? Trying to stay within 45 mins.

The answer is Fort Worth
Fort Worth is also a very generic answer, as you can both live and work 'in' Fort Worth and potentially have a 45 minute commute. Much less driving to the ballpark area of Arlington for workhoosier-daddy said:Buford Tannen said:

I30 drive during rush hour. 45 minutes would be pushing it.
Man, that just seems like a fool's errand right now. No offense.ClassOf17 said:
Office is near the ball parks. Currently in an apartment in north Arlington. Single and looking for a starter house. Or an apartment in a nicer area. Interested in Keller possibly.

Could look at north Euless possibly, though not sure what constitutes a starter home these days. Plenty of apartments off of 360 and Harwood/Mid-Cities exits as well, though they're a bit older complexes and can't speak to the clientele. Would be a easy commute at least.

I would say these "Bear Creek" area apts. are going to be fairly consistent with your North Arlington stuff...and might be a bit old or sometimes a little sketchy. Stretch that commute just a bit West to the Glade Parks area and you'd have a couple of options depending on traffic to go down 360 or 157 to work. And some nicer new complexes off Heritage right behind Glade Parks. Easy short drives to Southlake, Grapevine as well as Colleyville and Bedford/Hurst to check out housing options in the future.
I should add commute from Glade Parks area to the ballparks would generally be 20-30 minutes probably
They are priced like they are luxury apartments in an urban setting, when they are actually average apartments in a suburb. It's wildfc2112 said:
I live in Arlington. The apartment choices are either (a) wildly expensive or (b) third worldish.
There are nice places in Grapevine and along west side of airport that are an easy commute down into Arlington.

High interest rates, little supply, and single is a bad combo for house buying. Guess you could always refi later if/when rates drop but do you want to be tied to a house as a single guy right now?
