How long do you want to ignore this user?
Took a job in Arlington last year but don't want to stay here. What are some good areas with less expensive houses or nice apartments? Nearby? Trying to stay within 45 mins.

I don't think a good area with less expensive apartments or houses exists. Fort Worth is where I'd go.

I'm in Kennedale. Smaller schools is a plus. Also homes with land if that's up your alley.

what is your demographic/budget? based on your request, it sounds like single or maybe an SO...

and what part of arlington? my office is very far south, a solid 20+ minutes from cowboys stadium.

i might recommend mansfield or grand prairie apartments (360 & broad).

This question is the equivalent of what car should I buy. Need more details.

Office is near the ball parks. Currently in an apartment in north Arlington. Single and looking for a starter house. Or an apartment in a nicer area. Interested in Keller possibly.

If you are wanting to stay with in 45 minutes of work, that drive from Keller would be on the very edge. And during rush hour it is not for the faint of heart.

Could look at north Euless possibly, though not sure what constitutes a starter home these days. Plenty of apartments off of 360 and Harwood/Mid-Cities exits as well, though they're a bit older complexes and can't speak to the clientele. Would be a easy commute at least.

I drive to Dallas from Overton Park and back 2-3x/week. I can usually make it home from the ballpark area in 45 minutes in rush hour. You've got the option for 30, or heading down to 20 as well depending on the neighborhood in FW. Maybe look at something near South main or downtown. Those are hot areas and will cut down on the commute. They are putting up all kinds of lofts and condos downtown.

Fort Worth is also a very generic answer, as you can both live and work 'in' Fort Worth and potentially have a 45 minute commute. Much less driving to the ballpark area of Arlington for work

Pantego or Dalworthington Gardens.

Quickest commute to Arlington - like 3 minutes.

Depends on if your priority is socializing or home size/value.

If it's socializing, Fort Worth or Dallas. Keller is where you go when you get married and want to have more room for your kids but can't afford FW proper.

I live in Fort Worth (I-30 side) and commute to work in Arlington near all 3 stadiums. 35 minute drive each way (conservatively) is what I plan for. Traffic congestion has gotten worse post pandy.

That said, I've lived in Fort Worth for 40 years and love it. I guess Grand Prairie may be your second best bet but I've heard Mansfield is blowing up too.

Man, that just seems like a fool's errand right now. No offense.

High interest rates, little supply, and single is a bad combo for house buying. Guess you could always refi later if/when rates drop but do you want to be tied to a house as a single guy right now?

I would say these "Bear Creek" area apts. are going to be fairly consistent with your North Arlington stuff...and might be a bit old or sometimes a little sketchy. Stretch that commute just a bit West to the Glade Parks area and you'd have a couple of options depending on traffic to go down 360 or 157 to work. And some nicer new complexes off Heritage right behind Glade Parks. Easy short drives to Southlake, Grapevine as well as Colleyville and Bedford/Hurst to check out housing options in the future.

I should add commute from Glade Parks area to the ballparks would generally be 20-30 minutes probably

Glade Parks would be a good option as well, not sure why I didn't think of that earlier! I have no idea how much rent is these days, that's why I thought the Bear Creek area might be a decent option.

I live in Arlington. The apartment choices are either (a) wildly expensive or (b) third worldish.

There are nice places in Grapevine and along west side of airport that are an easy commute down into Arlington.

They are priced like they are luxury apartments in an urban setting, when they are actually average apartments in a suburb. It's wild

Arlington no longer views themselves as a suburb. I guess hosting two major league sports franchises will do that. Same number as Dallas and two more than Fort Worth.

Of course, I live in Arlington and work in Fort Worth, which is the very definition of a suburb.

You want to live in Ft Worth.

I live in far SW Arlington (practically Mansfield) and work in downtown FW. Its a nice area, but all families.

Check out Clear Fork area. Some very nice Apts and young crowd

I live off of 121 in the Bear Creek/Glade parks area of Euless and commute to South Arlington (Arlington Airport area). It's a nice easy commute down 360 and against traffic each day, so it averages 23-25 minutes in the morning and rarely more than 30 in the evening unless there is an accident.

We rent right now, and house prices are ridiculous in the H.E.B/Colleyville/Grapevine area, but slowly starting to come down to more reasonable rates. I'm C/o '19 and enjoy the area, but my girlfriend and I are the type to enjoy walking around Grapevine and having a glass of wine at the wineries. If you're single and looking for more things to do, you might be better off looking in Fort Worth. Most of my coworkers that are my age live over there, and we rarely meet up with them because of the distance/evening rush hour.
They did just put in a Chicken 'N Pickle right by us, but it seems like there's more families with little kids there than young adults when we go.

Fort Worth

I live near TCU and am regularly in and out of Arlington during both rush hours and its almost always less than 45 minutes. If you weren't going far past downtown you'd save 5+ minutes easily.

My neighbor actually works right in the same area and his commute is consistently around 30 with lots of different alternatives if traffic is too bad on one road.

Born & raised in Fort Worth (walking distance to tcu, none of the 3 kids went to tcu. HA!) and my parents still live there. Since you're young & single and want to stay within 30-45 mins from the entertainment capital of TX I would highly recommend getting an apartment or townhome either near south main/Magnolia or possibly near Tcu. There are a lot of garage apartments that are rented out in the Tcu area (tanglewood, south hills) or over by us in Ryan Place, Fairmount, Berkeley, Park Hill, Mistletoe. I would be more than happy to ask on Ryan Place & Fairmount FB page if you're interested.
Another area that has blown up is the "river district". https://www.riverdistrictfw.com/
Then get a work out membership at tcu. https://campusrec.tcu.edu/facilities/memberships/ ; )

Like others have said I wouldn't buy a house right now due to the high interest rates and lack of supply.

Meadowbrook, near I-30 and Tandy Hills Park. Close to downtown Fort Worth, 15 minutes from the ballparks. I grew up there (Oakland exit) and went to Lamar High School (transferred out of Eastern Hills)

To me, the South Main / Magnolia is still "up & coming" as a residential area. Great entertainment district, but still a bit sketchy.

Very near there is the "Left Bank" (West side of the Trinity, across from downtown). Very good entertainment scene for a young single.

Southlake. Arlington and the surrounding areas are ghetto as hell.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.
