Howdy. Houstonian checking in here, looking for some advice.

My wife and her sisters (who are coming from out of state) want to have a quick getaway in Dallas in October. They are looking for a boutique-type hotel in downtown Dallas. Within walking distance to attractions, preferably. Budget around $200/night, give or take a little. Also open to recommendations for restaurants, things to see/do, etc. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Statler Dallas may be in their range.

Magnolia and Hotel Indigo also in play. Adolphus has been redone and in that range. Also look at Uptown and the Meridien across from stoneleigh p.

Statler is awesome. Indigo and Cambria are nice. If you're willing to spend some bucks check out Joulle. The best bang for your buck though might be a condo downtown through VRBO or Airbnb.

The Thompson is the latest luxury boutique hotel in downtown- very centrally located. Could be an option if you can't book the Statler. They also have some nice dining spots there- Catbird is a great cocktails and high-end apps spot, and they have a sushi spot I've heard good things

The Adolphus Downtown is really neat. They also have a free car service that will drop and pick you up anywhere within a few miles.

Oct 8-10 weekend.
All of the hotels in the West End district are nice and clean.

/Dallas is full. Go to Wichita Falls.

Make sure they don't pick the weekend of 10/9.

The Adolphus, The Joule, and The Magnolia are all downtown and cool old spots.

If they want to walk to restaurants and stuff, they're probably better off in Uptown than Downtown (area North of Woodall Rogers). Something near Klyde Warren Park (on border between Uptown and Downtown) would be ideal location. Easy walking access to Uptown, Downtown, Arts District, museums, tons of restaurants, etc. I don't know enough about hotels in the are to make specific recommendations though.

Not a bad suggestion but there aren't a ton of hotels in Uptown. You've got ZaZa, The Ritz, and The Crescent. I think ZaZa is reasonably priced. I think there's a hotel at The Stoneleigh but I don't know anything about it.

The Warwick is in Oak Lawn and the bar there (The Library) has great cocktails and music on the weekends (at least pre pandemic).

I was going to suggest the Melrose (Warwick). That Library bar is awesome. The Meridien at the Stoneleigh is very cool, swanky vibe without being too "W-like". Plus you can walk to Nick and Sam's and the Stoneleigh P.

Might be off-color here but the Westin downtown is a converted office building and some of their suites are amazing if you can get upgraded. Got a random upgrade once and it was a gigantic corner suite with incredible panoramic views of the whole city. Pretty decent value.

I was one of the superintendents that built Hall Arts Hotel and Residences. Might give it a look. Turned out really nice IMO.

What weekend in October? Hopefully they don't do it Texas/OU weekend or good luck with that.

I would also recommend Zaza.

Thanks, all. Just to follow up, they will be there the weekend after the OU-tu game, and they've decided on the Magnolia. However, as is often the case (especially with this group), they may change their minds between now and then. I appreciate everyone's help.

I stayed at the Magnolia the weekend of my wedding. Very cool place.

The AT&T Discovery Area close by is also pretty slick.
