Our water came back on fully yesterday. Can't get clarification on what is safe and isn't. I know we are supposed to boil water was use, but is that hopefully just for consumption? We all took showers last night but now I'm seeing a few people on neighborhood Facebook page saying that's dangerous.

Can we use the water for showering and hand washing at least? Washing dishes in dishwasher? Or are we supposed to be boiling any water we come in contact with.

Its ok to shower, just be mindful not to ingest. I wouldn't run your dishwasher though. You shouldn't be using it anyways. Use paper plates and utensils. What we've been doing all week.

We are out of paper plates, glasses and utinsels unfortunately. And I'm guessing I'll never find a store that has them in stock anyway.

I'll start using boiled water to wash some of our stuff though....

then yes, i would boil to wash kitchen stuff. Point being, you only boil if there is a chance you will ingest.

Do you think the "sanitize" cycle on the dishwasher is not hot enough?

This is from the CDC:

Quote:

Household dishwashers generally are safe to use if the water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65.55Celsius), or if the dishwater has a sanitizing cycle.

Lived in Africa for a bit where this was always an issue, and yes it's okay to shower/bathe. Just be careful not to ingest.

Your dishes should be fine as long as they have the chance to dry completely before you use them. For peace of mind, you can always add a little bleach to the dishwater.

I also heard ingesting a little bleach helps with Covid.
