I normally take 35E to Waco then hit 6 to BCS. 45 S to Madisonville isn't bad for a stop at Bucees.

45 to Centerville with a stop at Woody's then take 7 in to 36 then to 21 into Bryan
45 south (about an hour 40-50 of hauling arse)
Exit OSR west to Normangee
In Normangee, south on 39 to North Zulch
In NZ - west on 21 to Bryan / 6 (from 45 to 6 is 40ish mins..for being rural roads you make pretty good time)
All in, downtown Dallas to Highway 6 is 2.20-2.30ish

Since I live close to FTW, down I-35W to Highway 6 in Waco.
For the win....it's a family tradition for us to stop at Woody's (South bound side) on every trip to God's Country....mncag said:

Yea, I'm on the west side of the metroplex, so I go 35 to Waco and pick up 6 there. Do not take loop 340 to 6 in Waco... why do people do this?
Agree completely! Our family has taken 35 to 6 instead of 340 loop ever since my sister started in 89. I had Fort Worth friends that would take the loop and never understood it.
We typically take 45S down to 21 to BCS. The reason we do this is more 2 lane each way highway and less 1 lane each way. This way if you get behind a slow person, you are not stuck. FYI. We're in a bus so the option to pass on a 1 lane each way road is limited.

I think maybe because the sign says "to Hwy 6 (or Bryan or something like that)"? I go 35E to Hwy 6. With a stop at Slovacek's in West! Tho once i missed the exit and somehow got on the road next to that high school stadium on the river...LOL.

And next time in West, give Gerik's a try. They're a couple of blocks into West on the south side of the road. You won't be disappointed.

Waze tells me 45S to SH-OSR to 21.
From Flo Mo/HV/Argyle/Coppell/Lewisville during heavy traffic times, say after 3pm on Friday, we cut through the DFW airport, hit 183 for a small bit then 161 to 20, then 20 to 35E. Much less traffic than going through downtown Dallas or FW
The new express lanes on 35W are awesome, if you can get to them without it getting balled up after the racetrack.

Pretty sure the signage promoting the loop as an option is Waco's way to get Ags to stop and spend some money versus staying on 35/6 which is a freeway all the way through town.ftworthag02 said:

45-14-6 is the shortest way mileage wise. I find it is just about a wash time-wise to 45-OSR-39-21.
One way you have to worry about small town police. The other is bad roads and animals at night.

With Highway 6 now 4 lanes all the way from 14 to BCS I've found 45-14-6 to be the quickest route.

There are about half a dozen towns to drive through on 14 but it's really not bad. Just watch the speed zones.
From my location to Kyle Field...
45-14-6 - 201 Miles
45-OSR-North Zulch - 209 Miles
More of the 209 miles is at a much higher speed rate, and only have to drive through two small times for a short period of time.
