Curious if anyone on here who lives in Prosper or Fairview would be willing to share their thoughts on the areas (and how they might compare to Allen/Frisco/McKinney). Mainly focused on quality of the schools and how much of a sense of community there is overall. Know that will vary from neighborhood to neighborhood, but just trying to get a general feel from those in the know.

There have been a few threads on this. It all depends on what you're looking for. My kids just started 6th and 4th grades and I live in Prosper and I teach in Frisco ISD so I have a decent handle on what's going on with those 2.

Prosper ISD is fine but there are a lot of growing pains right now and they are behind the curve with overcrowded buildings. Also, I'm just not a fan of the superintendent and it with schools it trickles down from there. Which is why I take my boys to Frisco with me. As for the town, it's fine but it definitely has the entitlement that comes with upper income suburbs.

Frisco ISD is big but all the feeder paterns have their own quirks but you have plenty of options of schools and housing within that zone. If you want to go that route, I can give you a very detailed breakdown of the zones and what each of the high school feeder patterns consist of.

I know there are some Fairview guys that will chime in but they generally seem to like it.

If you want to big school feel, I'd look at the Plano West zone opposed to Allen.

Most of Fairview is in Lovejoy ISD, which is consistently rated one of the top school districts in the state. The western portion of Fairview is McKinney ISD.

Fairview is exceptional. East of Greenville Avenue is indeed Lovejoy ISD.

Prosper and Lovejoy ISD both offer lots of positives. Agree with cadet that Prosper is having some growing pains. New High School opening in 2 years and add'l Elem schools are opening.

Both have a sense of pride....an example is you will see lots of car decals in each location...speaks to community pride, which is nice. Honestly, in the grand scheme of things they are both excellent. Not perfect, but excellent. I have clients in both, and I'd say overall they are very happy. I have daughters in Elem and Middle in Prosper right now, and they love it. As a parent, I've been very happy with their education and learning environment, and I'm pretty demanding when it comes to that.

And of course I have to say ----- reach out when you are ready to buy! :-)

We're in Light Farms, which is Celina, but just North of the Prosper border. I know I have commented on a Light Farms thread in this forum before. You might search for it to get more details.

We're PISD and there is an elementary school in our neighborhood. We are really laid back and have had no issues. My wife taught elementary for several years and she has been happy so far. We have been here for a while and it seems like every new person I meet targeted PISD, and has heard nothing but good things about the superintendent. Prosper does not hold a large geographical footprint, but the ISD does because it stretches out into the surrounding cities. I know they are projecting 7 high schools when everything is built out. My 4th grader is already in a portable for a school that is open for the 4th year.

We moved from Frisco after being there for 9 years. There is a way bigger since of community in Prosper than Frisco. Prosper is significantly smaller than Frisco. So, it's not hard to see why there would be a greater since of pride. Plus, like Cody stated, all of the soccer moms have the glittery "P" on their SUV that helps promote the pride in case you forget about it. Prosper is growing immensely and the road construction appears to be at an all time high with no sign of stopping. Retail is finally popping up that keeps us from having to drive into Frisco. The amount of young families is insane. There seems to never be a shortage of kids for my kids to play with, or social events to attend if you're in the mood.

Although it sometimes feels like we live in Oklahoma, I have been very happy living up here, as well as our children's PISD experience. If you choose Prosper be sure you are happy with your home owner's policy because you will be replacing your roof from a hail storm.

Fairview is the way to go and it's not even close. We were in Prosper/McKinney until 3 years ago and couldn't be happier in Fairview.

Prosper is planning to have 7 HS??? So I take it that they are following the Frisco model of keeping each HS fairly small? That model just seems to cause so much disruption for kids with the constant rerouting, splitting of feeder schools, etc.

I get not wanting a gargantuan HS like Allen, but it seems like there should be a happy medium somewhere.

Fairview is overrated. Look elsewhere....

I am about to move to Fairview (within the next month or so if my builder ever finishes). I currently live in Frisco (for the past 9 years). I looked at both Fairview and Prosper.

Schools in Fairview (Lovejoy ISD for the most part, but be sure to check the boundaries - not as simple as Greenville Ave) have a much smaller, personable feel than Frisco ISD. As new parents in Lovejoy, the district really has gone out of its way to welcome us. Having grown up in Denison, so far I feel Fairview has a similar small town feel to it. The people that I have spoke with there seem committed to keeping it with a country feel.

We did look at Prosper, but I see some of the same things happening there that happened in Frisco. The developers are now cramming houses on land (rather than the large lots that Prosper was once known for). I really hate zero lot line neighborhoods. I have heard of quite a bit of school overcrowding up there, but I am sure that will be addressed. If 7 high schools for Prosper is accurate (as mentioned above), I would wager that the sense of community up there will go away in the future, just as it has in Frisco (where I think we have 10 high schools now). I have no data to support this claim, but I feel that Prosper has gotten away from its spread out big lot philosophy and it is more like Frisco by cramming houses onto land. I personally feel that takes away from the overall feel of a community (although you could argue otherwise).

Thanks all. Random question, but how bad are the mosquitoes in that part of the world?

Pretty rough. Side note: we got a mosquito nix system this summer and I couldn't be happier with it. Worth every penny.
