Just read an article about how they couldnt come to an agreement with the landlord. As of 7am on Wednesday they were moving items into storage. Said they hope to have a new location in 2014.

Loved the food and atmosphere there. I wonder who will take over as the best sports bar in Uptown.

Are you referencing the new Mutts in West Village? They eased up on their breed restriction but still won't allow pit bulls off-leash.

I hate to hear this...Frankie's had become my favorite Sports Bar in Dallas and was the place my friends and I would start the night before heading off to Quarter Bar sometimes the Loon. 25 cent doubles and their Frozen Red Bull Vodkas were hard to beat. I also was here when we beat Bama and we had a blast watching Aggie games here.

The Loon deserves to close. Last time I was in there it had gone all up scale and was serving gourmet food. And it was too bright.

Yes, they are closing in that location as it will be a CVS I'm told. I'm not sure where its moving though .

You have officially moved from ignorant to dumb. You realize the rules aren't just for your dog right? I could have a pet tiger that has never attacked anyone, but that doesn't mean bars should allow me to bring my pet tiger. They would say no pet tigers bc in general tigers are dangerous.

I'm not getting into an argument about whether pit bulls are dangerous or not....but your reasoning for why they should be allowed is beyond dumb.

No, I didn't compare pits to Tigers. That's why I specifically said "I am not getting into an argument about whether pits are dangerous or not..." That is a totally different discussion, and one that I admit I know nothing about.

My point was IF they are dangerous, then the fact his pit has not hurt anyone is irrelevant. Just like if tigers are dangerous, the fact that my tiger hasn't hurt anyone is irrelevant.

There is a pad site for lease sign at west Lemmon and Cole, in front of the gas station. It's for about 35k feet, so a touch more than 1/2 acre.

I'm guessing it's for the gas station area and possible the dentist place, not the shopping center the Loon is in.

I keep hearing the Loon is closing too, even saw some blueprints that CVS had drawn up. That's their MO, to put up a store across the street from Walgreens.

They've had the "gourmet" food since I can remember...10 years? One of the best french dip sammiches in Dallas. Probably goes back to the days when it was a reporter's bar for the DMN & DTH folks.

I was there Friday night, and the bartender couldn't have shown less interest in taking my drinks or letting me pay my tab. I'm sure if I worked in Uptown with all the SMU-che bags, I'd be pissy all the time too, but come on!

I feel pretty confident that the sign in front of that shopping center is for the gas station and car wash only. Looking at this picture as scientific evidence, the lot where TX L&C sits is ~ 46,000 sf, and they are advertising ~ 35k square feet.

Assuming property lines are drawn up here by fences and changes in asphalt, I will assume that the line is for just past Floss and encompasses the Shell and car wash.



There is also a sign on the building where The Loon is that says "Temporary Office Space Available"; I think it's the old insurance company space. The "temporary" part could mean that it's going away, or that it's a sublease and the tenant is marketing it for the duration of the lease.

I would trust that guy ^^^ about this sort of thing. He like, knows things about real estate and some other stuff.

Plus, that's a decent amount of area that's being referenced between the car wash/Shell and the vacant dentist space.

I'm kind of a big deal now.

I spent insane amounts of time at Frankies over the last 7 years, so very sad to see it go, but the last night there was a bit nostalgic as we were going behind the bar and pouring our own drinks.

The Loon isn't closing, atleast anytime soon. The owners of the shopping center eventually want to develop that property match more whats across the street at West Village, but thats atleast year out at this point. The CVS rumors aren't true.

The dog park at Whiterock Lake allows pit bulls off leash

Spoke to the owner of the Loon Wednesday night. I asked him about the rumors and he replied with an emphatic "no", and then cursed me for not showing up more often.

My boss just told me The Loon is closing as well. 23 day bump for any news. The Loon is the only bar in Dallas that I give a **** about.
