The one the offer is on must be Beebe's.

Yeah, his house is listed for $999,000, but I don't think he'll get it in Northlake attendance zone. They had an open house yesterday, and I didn't see a single car stop.

Not surprised. Not everyone is willing/able to downsize into 4357 sq ft.

That's a hilariously bad price for that house... wrong side of Feildcrest and still over priced.

No we bought over on Ferndale... 10032 Ferndale.

I'm pretty sure someone paying 1mil for a house is probably not worried about the elementary attendance zone. Though, if someone would like to pay me a million for that option, I have a great 3 bedroom on the White Rock Elem side just down the street from his.

^^^We're a little far away (relative to HP) from all the top notch private schools (St. Marks, Parish, UA, ESD, etc).

The problem is that for $1MM you can get a better house, in a better hood, and not pay for schools.

$220/ft gets you into HP/UP/PH...

Now some LH homer(which i am) might drop that coin, but why not go tear down in WR?

I guess it all depends on what you consider "better." A 1MM house in UP/HP etc will actually get you lower taxes per year than in LH. Thus, you would have to pay for the privilege of going to school at WR over Hyer Elementary. Granted, you could get a much better house in LH for the same money, as the difference would be the cost of the lot, but is one school that much "better" than the other? Also, I personally think Beebe's house isn't all that great and would require a certain kind of buyer that just wants the status symbol.

I moved over here before we contemplated having kids, so elementary schools were not on my must haves. To us it doesn't really matter as our kids will be going private. (Wife wants..er..demands Catholic education since she did it) and distance isn't a factor when your rationale for private is something like ours.

Point is, I don't know that anyone looking at Beebe's house is concerned about the elementary school because 1) they are sending their kids private 2) are buying it just to have a 1 million dollar home, or 3) their kids are HS age and they want to attend LH.

There are better houses in LH for less.
