My wife and I are moving back home from Denver and are looking at settling in Rockwall. It's easily the most sensible place from a commute standpoint since I'll be working in Terrell and she'll be working in Greenville (and we don't want to live in Quinaln).

We've done an internet housing search and have our eyes on some houses in a few neighborhoods. The main two we're looking at are up north near The Shores (specifically near Shores Park, north of the golf course) and the area between Caruth Lake and the Rockwall City Park (in the east part of that neighborhood along Caruth Lane).

Does anyone have any thoughts on these neighborhoods?

My wife and I have lived in Rockwall-Heath for 10 years and absoulutley love it. We live in the Chandlers Landing community. IMO I would not buy on the North side but if you are looking for something on that side I know of two Former Students who have houses available. One is in the Historic District off Williams and I'll get more info on the other if you are interested.

Chandlers Landing is very nice...gated community. What are you looking to spend?

Let me know if you need representation. I work with lots of Ags on these boards in the home buying process.

I've lived in Rockwall all my life. My family lives here, I went to school here and still living here. Right now I'm living in the Shores which is nice. It's by Lake Ray Hubbard, it's about to open a brand new Country Club with a nice golf course. Also, you shouldn't have trouble finding a house because it's still expanding.

For a married couple Rockwall is a great place to live. The Harbor is bringing in more restaurants, shopping and entertainment. School district is really good. There is a Freebirds here which is awesome! If you work in Terrell it's the best place to live. I have friends who work in Greenville and live in Rockwall.

If you move here then you can join the Rockwall A&M Club. We are having a Golf Tournament May 18th to raise money for scholarships.

We live in Fate, just a few miles out of Rockwall and of the areas you mentioned, I would look to the shores before Caruth Lake, but both are nice. We're in Fate cause the house prices are a little more affordable and it was our first house.

Absolutely love the area - given its size, Rockwall has an incredible number of places for food and entertainment. We love it.

I agree about staying in Rockwall if she's in Greenville and you're in Terrel. I worked in Greenville for 5+ years (probably the same place your wife is headed) and never regretted having a commute in favor of staying in Rockwall.

Haha. Haven't spent much time in Greenville, but I'd say this is kind of understatement based on the time I have spent there.

I've got very good friends that live in the Shores. Nice area and good schools. They've lived there for 8 years now. I worked in Rockwall back in the 90s. Its amazing to see the growth that has happened. Sure it looks like most suburbs in DFW but at least it has Hubbard close by.

You could do worse.....like Quinlan.

Thanks for the advice... not seeing much input about that Caruth Lake area, which I guess is good. If it was a horrible area I'm sure that someone would say so and most people would be aware of it. My wife likes the looks of it from nothing other than Google Maps because it is close to some running trails and very close to the YMCA.

I'm going to be in town looking at houses tomorrow, and I'm interested to see how the different neighborhoods feel. The Shores area certainly seems more established and older, and we're a fan of trees.

Caruth Lakes isn't bad at all, but I think you'll find the Shores is just nicer. The prices will agree. The Shores has some sections that are older and more established. We were at some friend's parent's house today in the older part of the neighborhood and it is gorgeous.

All the places mentioned above are solid areas that I think you'd be happy with - just drive around and look for yourselves and you'll have a much better idea.
