I've read about this place for years and was happy when I noticed an MRM open in Allen.

I'm not sure there's a more overrated Tex-Mex joint in DFW.

Store bought flour tortillas (that they charge .25 each for). Even with all the crap that comes in Bob Armstrong dip, it was still nearly too thin to stay on a chip before it got your mouth. My wifes fajitas tasted like poor beef stir fry from a food court chinese restaurant. Last but not least, I'm not a fan of American cheese in enchiladas.

Bleh.

Cedar Hill location sucks too. I've never understood the hype for this place. The Lakewood location is just meh.

There is a location by me near Firewheel. I have not been yet. Don't plan to now.... two of the best Tex-Mex places in the Metroplex are within a mile of me anyway (Desperado's and Casa Milagro)..........

Forget MRM... instead go to Chitos in Plano (West of 75 on Legacy).

I've only been to the Lakewood location, but I agree that it is average at best. The four times I've been there the ingredients have tasted and looked really cheap on all of the dishes I've had. It really is shame, since this location has such a great patio. I think I remember reading that it is closing and being replaced by a Mi Cocina.

That is true. Matts Lakewood will soon be no more.

I disagree, I have always enjoyed Matt's and Mattito's and found them to be very good.

Casa Milagro FTW

Matt's got its reputation decades ago when it was the only game in Lakewood. It's never been that good it's just people have nostalgia.

Mi Cocina will be taking over the Lakewood location and shortly there after will be printing their own money. That place will make a killing. Matt is rumored to be looking on Greenville for a new location.

It's really about the atmosphere in the Lakewood location. The food is average but I love the place. I mean how often does Tex Mex actually jump out at you?

I am actually upset they are leaving the lakewood location. Been a favorite for a while.

But yes, the quality and service have gone down steadily since Matt Martinez died in 09, and then it's gotten exponentially worse since news about the lease broke and they started mailing it in.

I'll tell you this much, though. Margaritas, Bob Armstrong, and a couple of hours was one hell of way to close out a day at the St. Paddy's Parade back in the day.

No kidding. Besides, Dallas has fine Mexican food if you know where to look. You can find anything you want without straying far from Lemmon Ave, actually.

People just love to hate on Dallas.

Went to the Allen location and found the food to be just meh. The food was not seasoned well at all just was mediocre.

I prefer it to say On The Border or even Pappasitos, but it's not the best place ever or anything.
