i currently live in north dallas & enjoy it there. however, im renting.

im looking to buy before too long, and think the mid cities are safer as my job has the potential to move to either dallas, arlington, or fort worth. (and possibly back again)

i dont want to screw myself by picking too far east or too far west.

so. where should i go?

I don't know enough about the mid-cities to be honest with you, but I think Colleyville or Grapevine would be a better choice.......

I live in Euless...

at least my neighborhood is very quiet and feel safe to me. I have no problem with this town.

really depends on your price range and whether you are looking for a big yard, good schools and what level, etc.

If you're single and/or looking for inexpensive first home...might try South Euless for easiest access to all things D/FW. If you are wanting more established and nicer neighborhoods, there's some good ones in North Euless and North Bedford near Cheeksbarger (sp?)....North Hurst too but that's not an easy commute to Dallas. Grapevine/Colleyville "might" (not necessarily) have better schools but you'll likely pay considerably more and likely have a longer commute. good luck

Lived in Bedford for many years.
Lived in Euless for 8 years...still own a home there (I currently live south of Knoxville, Tennessee).

Would opt for Euless hands down. Most folks look at 'Useless' the way I did...meaning how could anyone ever live there? That all changed for me when I finally settled.

The thing that is different about Euless is their City Fathers (Mayor and the City Counsel) actually get along...and have for many years.

It's Cheek Sparger. I always found that funny.

Anything in Euless north of mid-cities blvd is zoned for Colleyville Heritage high school, if that makes a difference to you.

There are all kinds of levels of houses in Euless, even some small amount of new construction along mid-cities (although the new stuff is expensive).

There are parts of Bedford around 121 where there isn't really any difference in living there or in Euless because you'll shop and eat at all the same places.

All the more reason to live south of Mid-Cities and be a Trinity Trojan! T's up boys! Good luck this Saturday against Westlake!!!

I just moved to Bedford a few months ago and honestly can't tell the difference between any of the cities. There are great areas in each and crummy areas in each. None of the three is really large enough to have its own personality.

I rented in Bedford for 2 years. Great city.

I live in Keller now (bought a house), but only b/c of the cheap houses.

It's "Cheek-Sparger Road". It's called that because it used to be a farm road back in the late 1800s that connected the Cheek family farm to the Sparger family farm. Thus "Cheek-Sparger" road. It's the oldest road in Colleyville.

I bought in South Grapevine, the neighborhood behind the vineyards (rented it out, still in Iraq).

1. Cheaper than North Grapevine (though I might do North Grapevine if I had to do it over again, however it's not as convenient a location as where I bought).
2. Still Grapevine schools.
3. Faster appreciation rate for homes in Grapevine than H, E or B (generally speaking).
4. Extremely convenient to either 114 or 183 or 360.
5. Extremely convenient to major shopping centers - about everything you could want within 3-5 blocks from the house.
6. Very easy access to either HEB Hospital or Baylor Grapevine.
7. Lower concentration of sex offenders than H, E or B (at the time I bought, though that might have changed).
8. I bought a house on 1/3 acre for the same price as a regular city lot.

I grew up in HEB, so here are my suggestions

Decent parts south of 183:
-Extreme SW Hurst (Great neighborhoods...East of 820/South of Pipeline/West of Precinct/North of Hwy 10)
-Morrisdale Estates in Euless (Very well taken care of area but seedy outside of it)
-Bedford (Not much S of 183, mostly apts)

North of 183 everything is pretty much the same depending on neighborhood (Take away neighborhood just east of Trinity HS)

*Ofcourse there are decent sections of southeast hurst and south euless, but they are mostly nice pockets surrounded by suspect areas

I recommend Little Bear subdivision in North Euless (GV/C ISD).
I know of a great house for sale in there

Congrats Trinity Trojans! D1 State Champions. 3rd State Title in 5 years. Just another reason to live in Euless! (or East of Central in Bedford).

How long do you want to ignore this user?
quick off the cuff list:
-crappy schools compared to what's closer (GCISD)
-nothing pretty about any of the cities. .. they just look kind of dated and ghetto
-not sure about this, but willing to bet there's more crime than say a grapevine or a colleyville which are neighboring cities due to much of the ethnicity amongst the 3 cities

i mean, seriously, what is great about these cities? i really am curious please tell me

jackrabbit
How long do you want to ignore this user?
well "sucks" and "great" are relative terms so its hard to argue and not worth it anyway.

Suffice to say several on here seem to like HEB including me, but I guess you hate it for some reason and hopefully its not due to "ethnicity"

cnn has no clue what they are talking about, euless sucks. .. it offers absolutley nothing over a grapevine, colleyville, southlake, keller, etc all in the very near area

I grew up in Bedford and now live in Hurst, right on the border with Colleyville (in fact, the "Welcome to Colleyville" sign is on my street, about a block from my house.)

My kids go to GCISD schools, and I was able to purchase for a fraction of what Colleyville would have cost me. LOVE it.
