I live right next to fossil creek, but are there any other courses out there that are seemingly a better deal?

Doral aka Golf Club at Champions Circle has some pretty decent online deals

Sugartree, although I haven't been back since they had problems with the greens last year.

I also used to play Sky Creek??? in Keller I think, a little more pricey, but a decent course

Eric, have you been out to Sugartree lately? I haven't been since last March when they were having so much trouble with the course after the late freeze. I want to drive back out there and play soon, but don't want to make the drive if the course is still in rough shape.

I think I remember you talking about Sugartree before, maybe I'm wrong.

Another fun Fort Worth area course is Iron Horse, although it's not necessarily cheap unless you find a coupon floating around. It's not too far from Fossil Creek.

Never played Sugartree, but I have a free round through Avid Golfer so I will be making the trek out there soon.

Hawks Creek is usually in great shape.

Colonial CC has some good deals.....if you have a history from working there.

Hawks Creek would be my local value pick.

Z Boaz is a cheap muni, but you get what you pay for. Not a bad layout, but the greens are usually in pretty rough shape. Grapevine actually has a pretty good muni course.

Try Whitestone in Benbrooke. Pretty cheap and a fairly nice course. It has been a year or more since I've played there though.

The City of Fort Worth courses are a good value. Pecan Valley Hills & River are good courses and are generally around $35 a round.

If you dont mind a drive, Aledo has great courses for less than $50, maybe less than $40. Lost Creek and Canyon West are cool because they have more elevation changes than you may be used to in the metrolpex.

I'm pretty sure I could shoot my handicap there without my driver.

Hawk's Creek is a really good call and would be my vote. Back when it was carswell GC it was a little sketchy, but they cleaned it up quite a bit.

For the money the Grapevine Muni course is pretty nice. Right next to Cowboy's and they usually keep it in pretty good shape.

I remember Iron Horse being fairly decent also. It was a fun course to walk and priced reasonably. I use to keep a range membership there when I lived near Fossil Creek because FC always had people on mats and Iron Horse never used them.

I've played Sugartree twice since they lost their greens and it was in good shape. It is a bit of a hike to get out there, but it's worth it once you do imo.

Good to know, I'm going to have to take a trip out there. I love that course.

It's not really so much the course. The course itself is in decent shape, but the topography/scenery is nice, and it's just such a great departure from the typical metroplex course. Such a laid back atmosphere.

Played Coyote Ridge today, its been quite a while since I have played the course. was only 31 after tax including cart that has GPS on it. Great deal, greens in great shape, etc. had a blast playing today and shot an 81. it was a twilight rate after 3.....id recommend this course to anyone.

there was no one at Coyote Ridge yesterday, my cousin and I were basically the only ones out there, took our time and didnt feel rushed. carts have GPS on them, something all courses should have

grapevine muni

I played TangleRidge on Friday and was not too terribly impressed. I was really looking forward to it since they were closed all of last summer, and this was my first chance to play it since moving here in Feb '08. I expected much better fairways for a course that had a year off.

For my money, I would prefer Tierra Verde at that price range, and Mansfield National for a GREAT value. Of course being 5 minutes from each certainly helps the decision making. MN was in great shape on Sunday (even though the wind nearly knocked me off of 2 or 3 tee boxes.
