Been looking for some cajun restaurants in Austin. Havent quite found what im looking for. Im originally from Houston and family is from the boot so my bar is high for fresh seafood.

Would love some recommendations

The best you are going to find is Stuffed Cajun Meat Market.

Cajun food sucks here compared to Houston. We had gumbo at the Houston rodeo this week that trumps anything we've had in our 15 years here, that being said

Stuffed,, Shoal Creek and the food truck at 45th and Burnet are your most serviceable

Everything New Orleans. They don't have all the menu all the time, but they have some of the menu most the time...

Great couple, great food. I believe they are Katrina transplants.

Yep. This is correct. Also right across the street from Interstellar in you're in to world class BBQ.

Another vote for Stuffed. It a very plain…kind of a hole in the wall. But they do have lots of premade frozen items if you want to take home.

Edit: if you want seafood gumbo they only serve Friday and Saturday

This is the best I've had.
I didn't look these other two up but Cypress Grill down south and French Quarter Grill up north. Those hit the spot back in the day.

I'm on the east side so I normally go to Vic and Al's: https://www.vicandals.com/

Although I'm from SA originally so I can't vouch for legit cajun food.

Shoal Creek Saloon used to have legitimate gumbo. Have given up on Cajun in Austin.

This is the most correct answer, but the duck gumbo at Shoal Creek Saloon should not be overlooked. Or, shouldn't have been 15 years ago when I had it. But when I had it, it was good enough to make me remember it 15 years later.

As an aside, because it has naught to do with cajun/creole, but if you love the spicy, hit up Titaya's on Lamar and order the Catfish Pad Cha.

You will discover that you are, at heart, a masochist.

Mudbugs is a good place/find and they will also take reservations

Adding to List:

More North: Moutons (extra happy hours as well if the Saints/LSU are playing)
Central: Quality Seafood Market (can be hit or miss)

Well prefer cypress grill to Evangeline cafe and not close. Evangeline Cafe had the worst etouffee i so have ever had and have never been back.

I grew up in Lafayette so a Cajun restaurant with bad etouffee is a no go for me.

I always talk up V&As so they do well, but I secretly don't want anyone knowing about it.

Thanks for mentioning Moutons and Quality. I've meant to try each of them but still haven't done so.

I had their etouffee last week and it was really bad. Hope they just had an off day.

Stuffed is closest thing youll find to a Best Stop or Heberts.

Strut & Dorothy at the Armadillo Den off Manchaca has the best C&S gumbo in Austin. Hands down.
