Miss those Sat mornings letting my kid play on the Zilker Playground with no parking payments and then going to Shady Grove for lunch.

Throw in a ride on the Zilker Zephyr and yes, those were the salad days...

Touching the large treelimb the train went under. No homeless under the bridge the train went under. Topless women at the pool and the occasional banana hammock

You have to know where to park, and be willing to walk a little. I got tipped off a couple of places by regulars out there.

It is absolute madness trying to park for Barton Springs now. Anyone have any secret parking spots?

Yes. Just buy a house in nearby neighborhood and use your driveway.

Or get there at open. Lots of spots available then

Have not been in years. I surveyed the springs in the pool and the ground under the surface 15 years ago. Fun times trying to work while trying not to stare at the fun bags.

Also haven't been in years. Water is too damn cold. Always preferred Deep Eddy as its not quite as cold. Even though kind of apples to oranges.

I got kicked out of the pool in 1997 after jumping in and yelled F***!!! First time there and yes it was cold. Back then, language in a public area was a thing.

The kids would always score a snow cone and visit the watershed/aquifer display after battling the honey bees for their snow cones. The Botanical gardens were nice too. The kids also loved Lou Neff Point. About a quarter of the way down towards the Barton Creek bridge from the Point was a fish, turtle, duck, goose, man eating swan, and squirrel Mecca. We would see 50+ lb alligator snappers (likely the same one) on a regular basis. No paddle boards and a tiny smattering of canoes. The Zilker Clubhouse used to be a big deal too. Moto would hold catered parties out there on occasion, what a view. We went to Zilker all the time when the kids were that age. No traffic, free parking all the way downtown.

I'm sure there's still there's plenty of awesomeness in that area today. Feels like we had it good though.

We had a work event at the clubhouse years ago. Pretty cool venue. Also had a team-building event at Mayfield Cottage.

We still use the clubhouse on a yearly basis. Heading to two events there in May actually.
