Can anyone recommend a decent auto repair/service shop in or near Georgetown? Looking to have my son's windshield washer repaired. Thanks in advance.

My family has been in Georgetown for 30+ years. If you're looking for honest and fair you can't beat Mickan Motors in Walburg. Just good old boys that have been there for a long time and do good work.

Honestly, I just use Lamb's for most stuff. I've also used Craig automotive.

I trust both shops.

Lamb's tried to screw me twice. They won't get a third opportunity.

There's a place called AAA Auto Care (I think) on 2243 just east of the highway on the north side of the road (past the post office). I've used them a couple of times after leaving Lambs. They did good work for a good price and seemed like good honest folks.

That's A-1. I've heard they do good work but they talked to me like I was a 5 year old so I left.

Georgetown Interstate Transmission on Austin Ave across from the park. Used them for 28 years before we moved. Used Spencer's further up Austin Ave before he retired. Spencer told me to take my business to Joe Bob over at Interstate. Good. Honest. People.

No body better than Danny Mickans. He will get you in and out and no worries about getting screwed.

I kinda think that's just the way they talk. But yeah...A-1. I knew it was A something.

What kind of work does he do? In addition to needing it's 150K mile maintenance service, my F150 has started losing serious power over the past two weeks. It really struggles to get up to speed. Not sure if it's transmission or engine.

I highly recommend Jerry's Garage in North Round Rock. We've been using them for over 15 years. Check their reviews on Yelp.

Tried to put one over on me, too. Haven't and won't be back.

Never used them myself, but my father told me Honea's on Williams Drive was good and trustworthy.

Screw Lambs..

And I really wonder if there is a real "honest" shop out there.

I like to think there are, but I have to admit I have a really hard time trusting them. It's for that reason that I typically do my own work if I have tools, knowledge and time to do it.

I'm really surprised there was any answer to this thread other than Mickan.

I've reached out to Mickan, Interstate, A-1 and Jerry's to inquire about getting some work done on my truck. I'll report back here on how their estimates compare and how I feel about them when the work is done.

UPDATE: I'm scheduled to take my truck in to Mickan on Friday to get the 150K mile service done. He's also going to change the plugs and wires, clean the throttle body and install new shocks. The price he gave me is pretty fair, I think, for everything I'm having him do. The only thing he won't do for me is change the fluid and filter in the transmission. He said he leaves transmission work to the transmission experts. So, I still need to find someone to do that.

I never heard back from Georgetown Interstate, A-1 or Jerry's Garage, so that made it a pretty easy decision to go with Mickan.

Alright, I promised an update after I got all my work done. To the OP or anyone in the Round Rock or Georgetown area, I would highly recommend either Mickan Motors in Walburg or Georgetown Interstate Transmission in Georgetown. In the past week I've done business with both and really liked them both.

Mickan is a 2-3 man show. I spoke with Danny Mickan the most (who has two kids at A&M right now). Super nice guy. Seems very genuine and left me no reason not to trust him. I have a 2007 F-150 and I sent him a long list of things I needed done. He was able to do everything I wanted except the transmission work. He recommended I take it to Georgetown interstate for that.

Mickan changed my oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, changed the spark plugs, removed and cleaned the throttle body, installed new shocks/struts, changed my rear diff fluid, inspected my wheel bearings, inspected my brakes, changed the serpentine belt, gave everything a good once over and did my safety inspection all for $1,100 after tax. When I went to pick the truck up he walked me out and went over everything he did with me and told me what he found. Based on everything I wanted done, I expected his price to be double what it was. So I was happy. NTB quoted me $1200 just to change the shocks and struts, and the Ford dealership wanted $675 just to change the fluids and filters. I felt like I got a good deal.

Georgetown Interstate Transmission is a larger shop. I don't know their affiliation with A&M, but they had some A&M stuff on the walls and counters so that gave me a warm fuzzy. I dealt with Gene, who's the manager. Super nice guy. He seemed very knowledgeable and great with the customers.

My first trip there was just to get my transmission flushed and new fluids put in. That went great. $263 out the door. I don't know what a transmission flush should cost, but I was happy with that price. Today was a second trip. Something in my front suspension has been popping and getting worse. I thought it was the worn out shocks, but after having them changed it was still there. I chose to go back to GIT mainly because they were closer to me and I didn't wanna pay for a Lyft ride all the way to Walburg and back again. I described the problem and left my truck with them. A couple hours later Gene called me and said both my sway bar end links needed to be replaced, and also the ball joint and upper control arm on my driver's side. As he was telling me this I was imagining another $1500, but it was $609 out the door (including a "lifetime" front end alignment). I didn't realize just how loose my front end was until I got it back today after they fixed it. The popping and shaking and everything is gone. It drives like a whole new truck.

So, bottom line...I'd highly recommend either one of these places, with a slight nod to Georgetown Interstate simply because they're 10 miles closer to me (and because they do pretty much everything whereas Mickan pretty much only does maintenance type stuff).

Lambs sucks. Quoted me $225 (when I was getting car inspected) for a "problem" my truck had.

Took it to my regular mechanic - a connection was loose.

I always used Marioshop Automotive in Round Rock. Mario was always honest, did a good job, and I never had any issues.

Joe Bob, the owner, has kids at A&M. He may have gone there himself but I'm not certain about that. Glad they took good care of you.
