Hello Austin Aggies,

My Aggie son is getting married at the Plantation House in Pflugerville. We are looking for a nice, quiet restaurant nearby for a rehearsal dinner. We live in College Station and we're not too familiar with that area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

How many will there be attending?

My daughter's was at Taste of Ethiopia and everyone loved it. Winnie is the owner and she will take good care of you.

HTown, I'm guessing 40 to 50 people.

BQ thanks for your suggestion. That place gets great reviews.

Might look at the Salt Lick at the Dell Diamond. Its not too far from there.

Also, look at Jack Allen's in Round Rock

40-50 people in Pflugerville is quite a bit. Maybe Morelia's or Casa Garcias. Both places are Tex Mex and could seat that many people if arrangements were made ahead of time. Russo's is good and might take on a party of 40-50. Wish I could be of more help. All three of these spots are in Pflugerville and close to the Plantation House.

Jack Allen's food is fantastic.

We picked up Salt Lick for our rehearsal which turned out pretty good. Above average restaurant bbq, terrible sauces.

I would not eat anywhere in Pflugerville. There are very few decent restaurants there. I would go into Round Rock (Jack Allen's is good), Cedar Park, or head down into Austin. Morelia's food is awful. Salt Lick is overpriced and worse than Rudy's.

Also, you didn't mention budget or atmosphere. What are you looking for?

Agcrock, we're looking for a quiet, low-key place. Someplace where we wouldn't have to compete with a lot of noise from the other diners. I'm thinking we will have a moderate budget, but we could splurge if the guest list isn't too long. Also, bbq may be served at the wedding, so another type of food would be great for the rehearsal dinner.

My son mentioned that Chinese food would be nice. Are there any slightly "upscale" Chinese places that would do for a rehearsal dinner?

PF Chang's? There's one in the Arboretum (15 minute drive from Pflugerville). I don't know if they have separate rooms for large groups, but wouldn't be surprised if they did. I know there are a ton of better Asian restaurants in Austin but I don't know any that would be upscale or have room for that many people, and it's not too far from you.

Pretty sure PF Changs has a room you can reserve. It's not life changin food but it's good.

Several places in PVille would be suitable.

I would first try PBK - they opened back up with a slightly different name

Shogun Grill

Rio Grande - best Tex-Mex in Pville, and has a separate room that could seat a larger party

We had ours in the private dining room at Jasper's in Round Rock. Was a total of 25 people. Not sure what you consider "moderate" or "splurge" but you can PM me if you want more details.

AudtinAgChef and his team will do a great job.

Never thought of that place as a rehearsal dinner venue, but why not? Do they have a banquet room?

Great food and the owners, Winnie and Solomon, are super nice folks

We had about 30 folks and were out on the patio area, they were still serving about four other tables on the whole patio, so it could easily accommodate 40-50 people. Depending on the time of year, the patio may be closed off and climate controlled. They also let us bring in our own wine but they do have their own stocks, albeit limited to a few selections of the staple varietals.

Jasper's is a great choice as well, there really are a lot of good choices in the area if you think about it.
