Had a lot of fun jumping the cliffs by the devil's water hole in Inks State Park, but does anyone know of some similar spots to cliff jump around Austin? Someone told me about Hamilton pool, but that it's pretty high up.

Pretty sure jumping is prohibited at hamilton pool. Try Pace Bend Park. We use to call it acid rock - no idea what the actual name of the cliffs are.

Long ago when Hamilton Pool was privately owned people jumped off the top ledge. But Travis county runs it and no jumping allowed from the top.

The water is up so high at pace bend the cliffs aren't much of a drop off anymore.

Just FYI my dad is the Asst. Superintendent at Inks Lake State Park and every year at least one person dies from jumping off of those rocks at Devil's. Not trying to say don't jump off the rocks but just be careful.

my guess would be because booze+water+impact is a bad combo

If the height is high enough, he lands at a certain angle, and he isn't clinching his buttocks... Well, water can shoot through the rectum and rupture the large intestine.

Saw this on 1000 ways to die on spike.

I use to jump at Pace Bend. I'd not recommend cliff diving at all. A friend of mine right after he graduated from A&M had a very unfortunate accident. It you have about 20 minutes take a look. He's an artist now and very inspirational. http://www.ebru.tv/en/genres/LifestyleCulture/soul-survivors/episodes/2/204-jared-dunten

Don't do it. Land slightly wrong and your life is changed forever. I took care of far too many jumpers while working at brack.
