Out of everywhere, that's probably one of the worst stretches to speed on. Cops will sit on the crossover just north of the Navasota river and radar back north. Lots of people think they're "home free" once they pass the 2154 turnoff, so they'll drop the hammer and go 80 down that last stretch of road, even though the speed doesn't increase back to 70/65 until AFTER the river bridge. Going fast on that stretch is not a good idea - no median and LOTS of wildlife around the road (especially this time of year). The cops are working that area hard for good reason.
EDIT:
Wait a second.
quote:
I recently got a citation from the Highway Patrol for doing 72 in a 55. I was driving thru Navasota to reach College Station. It was at night and I had just sped up because I thought the work zone had ended. It was right before the bridge where no obvious "WORK ZONE" sign was visible in the dark.
After reading that again, it sounds like you were headed north on 6. If that's the case, the speed limit doesn't drop to 55mph until just before you cross the Navasota River. It's 70/65 on the loop around Nav and doesn't drop to 55mph until the river, then stays 55mph all the way to about Texas World Speedway. If you were cited for speeding in a 55mph zone anywhere south of the river, something isn't right...
