Howdy,

Does anybody live in or have any experience with Aggie Station or Reveille Ranch? I am looking into living in one of these two apartment complexes, and would appreciate any opinions and information. Thanks a bunch!

If you like living next to a railroad, then Aggie Station/Reveille Ranch is for you.... I use to live near Blinn, and the railroad still bothered me enough where it'll keep me awake or wake me up, etc.

Most shootings are by known persons. If you are not into a dangerous lifestyle then it should not be a problem. I think both complexes are pretty big college/party areas. Along with that goes the normal crime that better off college students attract such as burglary of vehicles.

There is a post about some of these apartment complexes on the general board. I've posted the link above...

Rev Ranch has HORRIBLE visitor parking, so it will be a pain for u every weekend night that you try and have people over. They also have really bad speed bumps...Those sound like minor things, but they get old really fast.

What's killed at the Ranch,
Stays at the Ranch.

I lived in both while I went to A&M. When I lived at Campus Lodge, know known as "Reveille Ranch" there were some parking problems but the complex is huge, with more parking than AggieStation. Also, it was huge on hosting parties and getting crazy. Didnt have the violence that it has now. AggieStation was also a huge party scene, but the parking was horrific for visitors. Visitor parking was very limited and most of the time you had to circle for a long time or just park out on Wellborn. Also, during the time when I was moving out, breakins started becoming regular. If you are a quiet individual that likes to keep to yourself, I would not recommend these two complexes from my experience two years ago. Both complexes valued their tenants providing quick maintenance when something needed to be fixed.

Exactly. If they fixed visitor parking, i might consider living there.

I always laugh now at the ad that says "What happens at the Ranch, stays at the Ranch." Yeah, until it's on KBTX that night.

Seriously, you'll hear trains no matter where you live in CS and you'll get used to it. I live in Conroe now, near some tracks and the train has become soothing after living in CS.

As for those 2 places, my opinion is they are over priced and there are much more reasonable places to live.

I have quite a bit of hands on experience with both. I lived at Aggie Station over the summer and my gf has lived at Rev Ranch since last May. The Ranch is definitely the way to go. I even recommended it to my sister who has lived there since August. The visitor parking isn't really much of an issue at the Ranch. I've seen the tow trucks vulture the lots at Aggie Station, I wouldn't even let my gf leave her car in a regular spot for 10 min while we ran inside. RR doesn't have a great ratio of visitor to resident spots, but they are MUCH better distributed than AS and speaking from experience, they do not tow at RR. I park in non-visitor spots for hours at a time almost everyday and have done so since November. I have seen tow trucks there rarely, but I'm 99% sure they were picking up or dropping off cars that had broken down. I haven' heard of any major incidents besides the shooting, but I think almost all apartment complexes have had crime at some point, even the Villas had that string of break-ins last semester. The apartment that I sublet over the summer at AS was actually burglarized months before and had several thousand dollars worth of electronics taken. You just have to be smart about things where ever you live. Also, if you are into athletics, Javorski, Michael and Martellus, Antannas, and Josh Carter all live at RR. I've seen them a couple of times heading out to practice or the games. The one bad thing I would have to say about RR, at least as far as my gf's building goes, is that a lot of her neighbors are huge partiers and can be loud on Friday/Saturday night and make a mess outside their door. My sister's building on the other hand is fine and the only complaint she has is the heavy footed people upstairs, but that is a problem everywhere. I know I don't sound very objective here because I'm building up RR so much but there really isn't much comparison in my book. I'm not sure how much credit you give it, but the Ranch also has won the Best of the Brazos the past two years.

gotta disagree here, unless things have changed a lot in a year. i lived there last year and the majority of the time when we had people over for a while who didn't park in visitors parking, they got towed. i would always see the towing company employees walking through the parking lots at night w/ flashlights looking to see if the cars had a resident sticker on there.

RR parking is not bad if you live there and have a sticker, visitors on the other hand might as well expect to go get their cars from the towing yards. There is virtually no visitor parking, 5 spaces for every 3 buildings, with as many as 48 residents per building, that's a poor ratio. The other things that are lackluster at RR, the dumpster situation is attrocious, they have 1 compactor for the entire complex at the back of the property, it is always overflowing and completely out of the way. Also, they have the BTU power strip, pay as you go electricity plan. Usually in place in low income and HUD housing where people who are delinquent on paying their utility bills, have this installed so the utility people don't have to go turn the power on and off all the time. This is a debit system where you get a Credit Like Card, put money on it at BTU or the Main Lease office, then swipe it in your apartment, and you get a countdown on usage, when you run out of money on your unit it automatically cuts the power till you put more money on. The only problem, these units are always malfunctioning, unable to communicate with the system or just EFFFed up. And the BTU technicians are so sick of dealing with the problems out there they are slower than normal to respond. Other than that I actually enjoyed living there, it was quiet, and the amenities like a big tv, free cable, free internet, plus washer and dryer was nice for the price.
