Have any of you had your cars towed out of a non-City parking lot in NG?

My brother got towed once after he gave $5 to the "valet" in the old Deluxe parking lot (dumb). Then this past weekend, his vehicle was towed AGAIN, this time after putting $ into the slot for his parking space in the Coyote lot (sort of catty-corner to Eccell, and behind O'Bannion's). The first time he said the parking garage was full, so maybe it was full this time. This just seems like a racket to me. He said as he was waiting for someone to pick him up Sat., he watched two other cars get towed from the Coyote parking lot. WTF?!

with the information you have given, it maybe in your brothers interests to

a) get a taxi to ngate and carpool home
b) walk
c) if he has a tamu parking permit, park on campus and walk home
d) go somewhere other than ngate.

Yeah, hopefully it won't take "third time's a charm" for him to learn his lesson.

if your car gets towed when you are legally parked somewhere then the towing company is required to bring your car back...

i have watched many cars get towed from the wesley foundation parking lot, many people feel they are above any established rules and ignore the large signs that say permit required...

bossycowcow - that lot that has the $5 sign with the slots is owned by the Chicken, so you might want to have your brother talk to their management.

I don't know of anyone who's been towed from the Coyote lot who also paid to park there. That's what the "mailbox slots" are for.

Having lived on NG, all I can tell you is the towtruck drivers most frequently cruise the area between 12:00 -1:30am. I assume this is because they know people are already drunk and aren't coming out of the bars until after last call.

Another thing that some people don't realize is that all the apartments in the area give their tenants parking tags. Which means if you see an nice empty apartment parking lot DO NOT park there. I've seen up to 5 cars towed in one night from my complex whilst drinking beer on my front porch.
I even tried to be nice and warn some guy after the Tech game, but he thought I was being a busy body and ignored me. I wonder how much ignoring me cost him?

YAWN!!!! Where have you been for the last 30 years? People complain about the garage and the city lots all the time, but before they were there, you took your chances with the tow trucks ANYTIME you drove to NG.

the parking garage sucks to get out of...but it is the only safe place to park at Northgate....if the gareage is full..I reccommend parking in the parking lot across the street from St. Marys church..it is a little of a walk..but your car will be there when you get back

mudlot is always a good idea if you can't park in the garage or on campus (most likely if the garage is full, so is the northside lot and now the blocker parking lot is gone too)

Here's a solution. Don't go to northgate. The city has ruined it and it's not worth the trouble anymore. Parking sucks and most bars are so jammed it is a waste of time and money especially if you wind up getting towed.

you must never go out during the week. Its only jam packed on weekends, not so much on sunday through wednesday, sometimes not even thursday. It's all about being smart while you are there though. No drinking on the back porch? oh well, its a loss but not that big of a deal really. They haven't been cracking down really hard unless you are a belligerent drunk.

I'm not giving away my special parking area...<5 minute walk . It is getting crowded enough there....

btw, just for clarification, they have NOT banned drinking on the back porch, they banned drinking on the Promenade. They even expanded the back porch so that more outdoor drinking could take place.

It's not about going out during the week/weekend/midday/midnight.I've been all those times. Northgate just isn't fun anymore. Maybe something to do with the same old boring bars also. Not to mention you probably wouldn't get towed during the week since no one is there, and there is plenty of parking.

So you think northgate is better when bars are opening and closing left and right?

No..I think N.G. is lame all together.

I understand small town people who have nothing more than a sonic their whole lives who think this town and N.G. are the greatest thing since sliced bread. But the truth is there are places believe it or not in this state that actually contain nice cool places to go. Sorry but going to the "chicken" or "zapatos" and standing around with a bunch of underage people trying to get you to buy them beer really isn't my idea of fun. There is a very limited # of 21+ bars, and they get boring.

Sorry bud....I am a dallas boy and I spend my nights there in greenville, deep ellum, and addison. I have been inside the chicken one time and one time only.

I have found a couple of bars that I love attending and have friends that make it a fun experience. If you can not enjoy yourself at a single place on NG then you are doing something wrong....

There is a huge amount of street parking within a block of northgate. Use it.

Just don't use it between 7:30 and 8:30am and 4:30 and 5:30pm on the weekdays!

let me guess: you go to the tap or carneys so you can hang out with all of your other popped collar buddies.

Been to the tap once, and never been near carneys. What else do you got?

so basically, you don't hit north gate, you don't hit the tap or carney's, from the way you dissed that, you probably don't go to fox and hound, the disdain you have for ng means that you hate the hall/harry's...so what type of place does that really leave in this area, The canyon and the dirty sock?

Yup I do hate the hall. I don't really know the point of you question b/c I already stated NG has gone down the crapper and I don't frequent it anymore. It doesn't really matter b/c I only have 3 more months here and don't plan on living here the rest of my life.

as i do enjoy ngate before 11pm during the summer months. i typically dont go out alot due to my family. for me the crowds and the smokeyness just arent worth it anymore. its just alot to put up with. i am thankful that the cops have cracked down on under age drinkers on ngate.

yea. what a huge problem. im sure the cops dont have more important(but less profitable) things to work on.
