why is the bookstore on NG next to Dominoes empty...are they moving?

Wasn't it something with the rent getting to high for them as well?? I have heard they might be closing since last year. Dang, I liked that bookstore, Oh well, I am graduating anyways

The high rent is why Hollick's decided to move recently. Maybe CS is trying to chase out some of the older businesses to make way for new one's that will attract business to NG from the conference center they are about to build.

The University Bookstore at Northgate was a dump in the 70's......

I don't know how they stay in business. Nobody ever goes in there and it's just really crappy. Surprised it has been there that long.

There used to be an adult video establishment above Loupots NG store.

There should be a bar there, just as there should be a bar in the bank spots. NG is eating and drinking.

I'll second the Cow Hop sentiments ... loved that place. Cow pie, fries, chocolate shake, shoot some pool.

I've always wondered what the exact rule is on that one. Someone said 500' from door to door as you walk.

A Starbucks would do very well over there.

Um...I am not even sure where the heck United Methodist is, but I know for a fact there are bars on every side of the bookstore that would be closer to anything around NG than the bookstore.

Have you been to NG lately? In the past few years bars have moved into the old Quizno's, dry cleaner, camera store...

University Bookstore is the closest business to A&M UMC. Cross Lodge St. and you're at the church.

Are you thinking of Loupot's? That hasn't closed down.

I go down University daily, so I'm fully aware of the newer bars in the area.

Um...it's that big church right across from where the old University bookstore is.

A freakin' Starbucks??? Like we need another one.

well considering that there are no freakin coffee shops anywhere near campus, i think this will be very good. i have no way to get anywhere, so this would be a good option for studying, seeing as how i live right behind northgate. best of both worlds--study til it's time to get ****faced and then stumble home...


oh and btw, the Diner is also closing (last day is sunday). they also lost their lease.

There are three things that New Army needs:

2) Chick-fil-A
3) Greek letters on their rear window

sure, coffee's easy. studying at home, though, is an art that i have yet to master is my 6 years here...
i doubt that's gonna change in the next 2 years...
