I had an extremely negative experience with Fireplace Etc.

I purchased a fireplace from them for a home remodel in 2020 to be installed by them. On day of delivery and installation, they ran the pipe through my ceiling, but never vented through the attic and roof. They told me I needed to verify if them cutting through the roof would void my warranty. They left.

Fair enough. I called my contractor, verified we were good to go, and called their store within 30 minutes of the installers leaving to let them know it was all good. I was told I would get a call back for them to come back out.

Crickets for 9 months. I get a call from them saying I have an unpaid balance with them, and I need to pay. I told them the installation was never finished, and no one ever called to schedule finishing the job. The girl told me she would call me back.

Crickets for ANOTHER 9 months. Same thing. They called wanting money for a job they didn't do. I repeated the same information, and I was told I would get a call back.

In the meantime, I got an outside contractor to finish the job.

Finally, after ANOTHER 9 months, I received a voicemail from the owner saying I had an overdue balance and he would be seeking legal action if it wasn't paid by the end of the week. I called him, told him my issue, and that I wasn't paying for an incomplete job where I had to hire someone else to finish his work. He then asked for 50% of the total amount since they did partial work. I told him you either do the job or you don't. Never heard back from him after that.

Anyway, do with that information what you will. I always followed up with an email after every seemingly random call I got from them. Just for my own documentation.
