Houston is getting an NHL team.
Any chance BCS gets a minor league team?
SpaceX Stadium has a nice ring to it.

edit: sorry, maybe should have read the BCS thread beforehand.

I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

The answer is not a chance.

Too many cities much larger, with no sports competing (e.g. A&M) for butts in seats.

You're right. I didn't realize FW didn't have a hockey team any more. Who says they want one again? They have the Stars right down the road. I was there when they won the Stanley.

We have a minor league team now. It's the TAMU club team. I don't see people knocking down the doors of the rink to watch them.

That's a club team and probably less than 30% even know they exist. If the WNBA can survive averaging less than 1k per game when Sophie and CC aren't playing, a minor league hockey team can survive here.

I do like the club team, though, and probably wouldn't want to take anything away from them. They consistently kick the **** out of tu.

I'll put $100 on a bet that we don't get a minor league hockey team in the next 5 years.
PM me to lock it in.

ECHL would be more likely. I hope BCS makes a play at least.

Did you know that at one time in the 90's, there were more professional minor league hockey teams in Texas than anywhere else in the country:

Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Beaumont, Belton, Corpus, El Paso, Ft. Worth, Houston, Lubbock, Odessa, San Angelo, San Antonio, and even Waco had a team.

Even more surprisingly, here is a list of all the teams that were in Louisiana: Shreveport, Monroe, Lake Charles, Alexandria, New Orleans, Baton Rouge

another fun fact: while not in Texas, Oklahoma City led the entire country in minor league attendance for several years

The Texas Roadrunners are in College Station. Part of a tier 3 developmental league. They're often looking for host families for I think it's 15-19 year old kids who come to play. They're looking for college scholarships or working their way up in professional development.
