This is great news, was hoping they weren't going to close for good. Thanks for the update.

I know of Dean & Peeler. Don't know them personally though.
I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

I never lived on campus. I just know Jason and Dustin from work. I stopped in today and business was brisk.

Maybe they will import some of that killer Floresville peanut brittle!

Thank you for your reply. Just a few hmmm… I wonders going here. Its been many years, but a good college friend of mine from Floresvile happened to have the initials jh and am pretty sure he was class of '88. To my knowledge he still lives in the Floresville area.

NOT a criticism, but popped in today and it looks like they are carrying far less than before. I knew they were no longer carrying wine but it seemed like the speciality foods were much less. I get that trying to do too much can be a problem and I get that the new owners are more "meat focused" (it is a butcher shop after all!) but I hope they continue to carry their wonderful breads, pies, rotisserie chicken, and the Italian products the Ruffinos carried.

They were giving samples of different types of sausage and they were really good. I wish them well and am happy to continue shopping there.

I bought some of the sausage but missed the samples. Left it at work, so that becomes my weekend cook.

Tried the "original" beef jerky and liked it. Son wants to try the lemon pepper.

I think that they will see what the needs are and fill in from there. It was weird seeing the middle rack gone.

Totally agree. I went to readfields a lot. Custom and consistent deer sausage, italian sausage, and their sandwiches were my go to. Chicken salad, chopped beef, the muffaletta's and their sweet tea were what made the place what it was. Really hope they keep the Italian angle and dont fall into the typical Texas beef jerky at $19/ lb routine. Those places are everywhere these days.

I panic bought when I thought they were closing and stocked the freezer with their Italian and Polish sausage.
