With the government shutdown, does anyone have any insight regarding local flight cancellations in the coming days?

American canceled some flights out of Waco and Killeen today.

No delays or cancellations today of the AA flights (CLL-DFW) according to my American Airlines app.

I would imagine the effects at CLL are minimal since it's a low volume terminal with one airline. It's the connectors at DFW I'd be worried about.

I'm not so sure. Today was a 4% cut, but it will rise to 10% soon. From what I have heard, regional flights will be hit hard. Even though CLL has very few flights per day, they could be affected due to trimming flights in and out of DFW.

We have flights at Easterwood? Is it possible to cut what hardly exists in the first place?

I know right?

After retiring from TAMU, I spent 5 years in industry that had me traveling about 75% of my time. While many BCS business travelers prefer to drive to IAH or Austin, I loved the convenience of flying in and out of CLL. I got to know the AA and TSA folks pretty well, especially those working the 5am flight on Monday. Going through security took only minutes. Parking is very affordable

While delays and cancellations did happen occasionally, it never significantly affected my work.

There are usually 8 TSA folks working and only 2-3 are needed. I expect no impact.

The FAA air traffic controllers are the issue, not TSA in this case.

Have to think there's only a couple of those as well but maybe the ones still working will be needed elsewhere. Air Force has a lot of flights come through so maybe that'll keep it open

The tower here won't matter at all. It's all about thinning the herd into and out of the hub cities. The flights into and out of about 10 hub cities are affected - including DFW.

If you are making holiday flights, good idea to get a fully refundable ticket, esp if you are flying through major hubs. Doesn't look like this will get back to normal for some time. I have a three-connection flight over Christmas and I fully expect the worst.

Flight out of easterwood today and it's business as normal. Coming back Thursday could be interesting.

I think OP might've heard about the MD-11 line getting grounded due to the UPS crash. Unless you are a box, it shouldn't affect you at all since they haven't done any passenger traffic in over a decade, and definitely not at Easterwood.

Waco had flights canceled to/from DFW. It's not that Waco is busy, they have to reduce the flights for the top 40 airports, regional flights are some of the easiest to get rid of and almost all regions flights go into one of the top 40 airports.

We just flew back to IAH from CAN Sunday. With all the stuff happening while we were in Mexico United posted on their app that our ticket could be moved with no charge. I'm pretty sure all the companies are doing that with the interruptions.
